Not sure about the cost to have a shop do the chunk swap, but it should be a good bit less than buying a custom diff.
I love it!

Thanks Keith

Trying to hijack the thread back! How do I search for an "E36" for sale on forums? As far as I can tell very few people put "E36" in the description, at least on Craigslist.

Thanks...

Michael, if you're looking for a sedan at a lower cost of entry into an E36 chassis, and a car that's ready to track with all the BMW stuff taken care of already, buy mine, and I'll buy Mike's. Seriously - it's STU legal too.

Note: mine does need a little body work at the rear end, but it's all cosmetic, the chassis is straight and I never bothered getting it fixed since it was primarily a track car for me now.

custom diffs are pricey.

without headers / exhaust work other than a cat-back and without head work my '97 328is puts 209 to the ground. there are guys on Bimmerforums claiming 240 rwhp is possible with a 2.8l.

some of the CCA club racers have switched from M3s to 2.8s from what i have been reading.

That's not a half bad idea -- my car is a bit over-prepped for Michael, and Dustin's car is a bit under-prepped for Dustin :)

Sounds like a creative idea for someone who's lusting after Mike's car :-) Define "little". Are we talking a golf-ball sized dent or or a fender-sized dent?

You, Keith, and Mike are the ones pushing on the M50 IM swap to the 328 when I said I wanted it STX legal so I should have taken your advice with a grain of salt I guess :).

Sorry, I assumed you knew which mods were legal in which class. I've been treating the M50 manifold and LSD as separate issues.

No problem, I was just messing with Steve.

I was more concerned about the LSD for STX than that intake anyway :).

It is hardly noticeable. And the car is techno violet  It would make a great track car to start off with and a good dual purpose AX/Track/driver.

Then again, you wouldn't be allowed to AX

You forgot that it would make a great rallycross car. All the fast cars are purple this year.

I don't think purple cars are allowed in our neighborhood.
