Getting ready to help a friend get everything needed to refresh the brakes on her 2007 WRX.
The calipers are painted red with 'Subaru' contrasting lettering. Is this stock, or do I need to look for a specific pad/rotor set?

They are not floating calipers, they are fixed calipers , so the method by which you change pads is different FYI. It's actually easier if you ask me.

Knock some pins out, remove a clip, pull the pads out...use an old pad as a lever to push the 4 pistons back in and plop the new ones in and put the clip and pins back in...done.

It is easy to change, but the pads are expensive.

Oh well. :(

If she hasn't gotten pads yet (or in the future), get stock pads from people on www.nasioc.com. They throw good pads away all the time.

I priced out the basic centric blanks and centric semi-metalic pads for around $200 for the whole shebang from knsbrakes. This is a street car, no AX/track plans yet (working on that!).
