After doing a lot of research and settling on a 2006 STI for B Stock to use for ProSolos, I searched around for a while now and really didn't find one I liked. Considering I wanted some thing with 4 doors and AWD, my options were fairly limited.

I drove James WRX here in Charlotte and while the power was intoxicating, the long gearing made me wonder how good it would be for ProSolos.

I got a little crazy on Friday and ordered a 2010 Subaru STi Special Edition from Folger Subaru. I think with the slightly less weight, much better spring rates and bigger rear sway it can get it done. I went with a completely no options car, so it should be the lightest available. It should be here in about 6 - 8 weeks, which should give me plenty of time to set it up for DC. Hopefully I will have a better experience than Christopher Carris :x

With all the talk about Dixie, I'm getting excited to drive. Bryan and I will run the C6 at both the Lincoln & Arkansas Pros and will continue to campaign it at Nationals. While it would suck to bring two cars to Nats, it will be nice to have a car that should do well in the rain :) - AB

Nice, the SE has some fun suspension upgrades and got rid of all the crap that I don't want (leather, stereo, fogs etc etc). I was actually thinking that I might get one in a in a few years when I'm done with the WRX :). But here is to hoping that they bring a Spec C-ish model out in the US ;).

congrats on the order! I looked at one of those at the car show. I have head room in it and it's relatively cheap for a new car. This may be an option a few years down the road. I'm going to stick w/ the mustang for now.

Let us know when you get it set up.

I'm already looking at getting the Niles 29mm bar (like on Donnie's STi) along with some lightweight wheels and some AST's (which I think will frighten me how expensive they will be).

I'm not sure what I will do on the exhaust, but I know I will get rid of a bunch of weight there by moving to a single tip from the quad tip stocker. - AB

The N1 style exhausts are the best performance gain for your buck and the lightest since they go from downpipe almost straight back with a very mild bend under the rear diff. They are loud as can be and may arguably not look the most desirable due to the big can prior to tip. I don't love the way they look, but it's probably what I will get in the end.

The quad tip exhaust is a LOT of weight and a LOT of larger degree bends.

Where is the cat(s) on this beast? I can only do anything downstream of the catalytic converter and I'm considering just a down turn post cat. - AB

The cats are in the downpipe (no cat in the uppipe). The downpipe ends under the passenger front seat. I'm actually thinking about welding up a turndown but for just prior to the muffler in the back (it'll be very easy to unbolt the muffler at that flange at an event and put it back on prior to leaving)....just to see how the car feels with open exhaust....that is about 6 additional feet of pipe compared to a turn down right off the downpipe.

Congrats Aaron. Enjoy it. Can't wait to see you launch that thing.

Wow, that's perfect. By rules, the exhaust has to end behind the driver. If the N1 would be light, gain power and not be abnoxiously loud, I might go with that. - AB

Me too. It won't suck to know that I'll at least be faster than most on every course... at least to 60 ft. - AB

Aaron you might want to look at the Motons if you are going with custom AST's. I know the guy in Dixie with the DS 09 WRX was just installing some Moton double's. I am not sure if they will be even more expensive than the AST's but they are a known quantity.

Congrats on the new purchase. From the moment I saw the specs on that car I was pretty sure it would be damn good for Prosolo's in BS compared to the 08-09 cars. I am not sure it will be better than the 05-06 cars though, it should be pretty much the same. More weight but more wheel and tire as well.

Good info. Yeah, it should be within 80# of the 2005 with 20mm more tire, so I think it should be fun - AB

The 05+ STI have 8" wheels, the SE have 8.5" so a little bit more wheel, but the 08+ STI can accommodate some monster tires (lots of people say they have 4x4 stances from the factory :) ), which I assume you'll take advantage of ;).

The turbo itself works as a pretty decent muffler so you can get away with much more aggressive exhaust without being obnoxious. Congrats on the new car man.
