I imagine Aaron will run at least the 295's. I think trying a 315 might not be a bad thing if you can shove them on there and not get any major rubbing.

That's what I like to hear :). What is the factory offset on the SEs 18x8.5s? I'd imagine the min offset (or taking advantage of the 6.35 mm worth of legal spacer) would be necessary to get to 315s?

Congrats on the purchase Aaron, we all knew you were a SDSS all along. :D

Damn, you guys really think you can get a 315 on a 8.5"?

I am pretty sure they are doing it on the front of the Vette already. We put a 285 on a 7.5 on the front of the Crossfire.

Congrats, Aaron! It'll be pretty kickass to have you in BS when you decide to turn up in it at a local. It'll also be neat to see someone talented in a BS car Nationally other than an S2000. Dixie was almost "Spec S2000," and as much as I like the cars, variety is the spice of life.

Keith's right, we already run a 315 on the front of the C6 on a 8.5 rim. It would be nice to see what could be fit on there and having extra 315's hanging around will make it easy. It will probably become a thing of extremes, either running a huge tire, or a skinnier 285 for gearing (maybe even the Kumho).

Rim wise, there are only a few lightweight options (ranging from 17.5 to 18.5# depending on what I want to spend). The offset of the stock rims are +55mm. There is the Enkei Racing PF01's at 18# that look great too, but the offset is +45mm, so shaving 4mm off the back would be risky.

I think I will end up with OZ Alleggerita HLT. They're 17.5# and +55mm offset, but cost $380 a wheel and I need 2 sets.

I think my best option is to see how light the SE wheels are. - AB

And remember with those big ass calipers that it's not always about whether you can shave the metal, but if once you do the spokes still clear the caliper.

Yeah. I remember you telling me this, thus why going with a wheel that is supposed to fit with an offset already at stock offset is probably the smart way to go.

This way I can get extended lugs and run a 1/4" spacer and know that it should be good to go. - AB

I do know that when that body style came out several people tried the 285 with gearing in mind and they were cording them pretty fast. They then went to the 295's which seemed to last longer. I am pretty sure Chris Carris tried the 315's but I am not sure what he thought about them.

Also see if you can find the Kosei K3. They made them in a stock legal size but I am not sure if you can get them anymore.

Yeah, which is some of the reason why the Kumho might be an interesting option.

Cool. I'll have to look into this, considering they certainly would be cheaper if I can find them used. - AB

Have you priced bumper skins and undercar plastic bits?

Maybe an ITR in DS.

Sadly, I have :(

There is a difference in the two, but I think if I put clear bra on it, it might hold up.

The other thought is to put a unpainted nose on it for autocross only. Ugh. - AB

Of all the stuff I thought you would do, a new car was not on the list. Color me surprised. I wasn't aware of this package, but it sounds like it was custom made for you. Congrats!
