I would prefer to break it in right. It's not like the C6 won't be fun :) - AB

That's awesome! Can't wait to have you two in BS. Did you end up buying those AST shocks that Chris whatever his name is had on his?

Not yet. I will pull the trigger this week. I wanted to hold off on buying that kind of stuff until I actually get the car, considering used they are $2k. Not like I haven't bought enough already: 2 FSB's, Kartboy endlinks, stainless shorty exhaust and Kosei K3 wheels. To be fully setup, I will just buy 2 more sets of wheels, the shocks and I won't need anything else except for tires. 8) - AB

Eh? You can break it in right on a highway trip. You look like an ass doing it, but you can do it without breaking any laws.

And honestly, if you break it in *right*, you don't need anywhere near 1000 miles. Stop in a Wal-Mart parking lot half way and do the oil change, load her up, and you're set.

Do you need me to teach you how to change the oil on a car?

I don't see your pansy ass on the Lincoln entry list. If you're the man, let's see that weak sauce AP1 you're setting up make it to Lincoln. - AB

Sadly, my car owner needs the car until May 8 to fulfill some obligation to his parents. I think his priorities are out of whack, but there's nothing I can do about it, either. :)

And while I'm on this topic, where do I order these "easy button" revalved Konis for the S2k from? And what do I ask for exactly?

Donnie, I got mine direct from Koni. You should be able to call Koni - talk to Lee Grimes - and ask for a set of shocks "like you guys made for Karl Shultz." Mine were actually the betas. Lee should be able to provide you the exact specifications for the ones Chris, Eric, and I run on. I'm nearly certain that Keith Vail's are also the exact same valving. Marc Pfannenschmidt told Koni to simply make his "as stiff as you can possibly make them," and I know that his were different valving.

Koni's lead times tend to be long, though, so if you're in a hurry, I'd look elsewhere. Don't get them from Truechoice - I've heard too many horror stories about them putting the wrong components in shocks and screwing the whole thing up. There's a shop located somewhere close to Infineon Raceway in California that can also build them. I believe their name is Performance Shock. I think that's where Nick Jackson got his, and he was very happy with their service and turnaround time. If I ever send mine away to have them serviced, I'll probably send them there.

You're welcome to ask any of us (Chris, Eric, Keith, me) how we like ours. For me, I'm sure a set of Motons or Penskes would be nice, but I'm not convinced that they're "necessary." Moreover, since I drive my car on the street some, I'm fearful that a set of exotic shocks wouldn't hold up well. The "easy button Konis" have proven quite durable; mine are three years old with at least 30K miles on them.

Who is the mystery car owner? I am betting Jonathan wants a car that actually handles... vs. STi launch prowess. - AB

It's Jonathan. He found a killer deal on a 2003 a year or so back and hasn't done anything with it but date nights yet. I'm gonna fix that. :-)

I figured it was Jonathan. It will be great to have the old group running in one class :) - AB

I probably had my best experience ever at a dealer. Folger has their act together.

My wife was going to leave work early to drive me over, but in light of that, Folger suggested they come pick me up at my house instead having her waste her time.

When I arrived the car was out front, fully detailed and ready to go. I told them that I wanted no dealer stickers or front plate on the car when they called me on Saturday. They abided by my request, even going as far as not putting on a rear license plate frame. I told them when I arrived it was ok rear plate frame ;)

I walked in and all of the paperwork was already done with the info I provided earlier in the day. The salesperson had me check out the car, go over the information on the car and then got me to finance. In 20 minutes I was done with finance and out the door. All in all, I was at the dealer a little less than an hour and was off.

Keeping it below 4k rpms wasn't a lot of fun, but it was made easier with the beeper/tach warning light. It's a warning buzzer and light that you can set to any 100 rpm value, which could be interesting to use as a shift light at events.

The ride is quite firm, even firmer than I expected. So far I am very pleased. Here are some pictures, which are a bit dark for they were taken late this evening:

Nice. Daddy like. And yeah, the STi shift light is pretty nifty. But after the break-in, be careful. The frequency with which you use it is in direct correlation to the amount of speeding tickets you can get with it.

Thanks. The first mod for the car will be hardwiring the V1 into it. - AB
