Anybody have one of these laying around for a 98 Impreza OBS?

After doing some innerwebz research for my car's symptoms (airbag light on and horn not working,) it appears that mine has given up the ghost.

Called Southern States Subaru and they quoted me $279 for the part!!!!! Let me repeat that TWO HUNDERED SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS!!!! I called CarQuest/WorldPac and they don't have it and I have looked online and can't find it anywhere.

The car isn't worth much more than that to me but I need the horn to pass NC state inspection!!!

Grrr!!!!!!!

Have you checked out:

https://www.chaplinssubarugenuineparts.com/index.php

it's p/n 98261FC002
for $197 so not cheap, but cheaper than $280

So it's called a roll connector, check out this thread:

http://www.scoobymods.com/roll_connecto ... 1961b&

good luck.

So, I checked out rs25.com and found on that the guy wants $140 for. Pass. For that price I'll spend the $45 extra to get one from Chaplin that James pointed to.

Still looking at RS25 and Nasioc.

Jeremy, if you see one, let me know. I kind of need it pretty quick, as in early this week so I can get the car inspected and help my sister get out of the ticket she got 3 days after the inspection expired. Her court date is this thursday.

Jeremy, I'm going to PM my cell number to you. Give me a call if you guys have one on the lot. Thanks!!

Todd, do you have the fsm? I'd be happy to help you wire up a horn if that's all you need to pass it. It would only take a few dollars in parts.

Michael, nope, never planned on keeping the car as long as I have.

I'm going to make the call to wire up a temp button tomorrow. Jeremy's going to check at Wagner's and I'm going to give Steven Rankins a call at 42autosport to see if they have any from a donor car sitting around. Also going to place a call to Boxer4Racing as well.

I may take you up on the offer to help though.

My only reason for wanting the original part is that this car is definately going to be sold this spring and I want it to have the proper parts on it. Plus, I would think that the airbag light being lit would be a turn off to potential buyers.

ok just let me know. Keep your eye out for a fsm online if you want to go that route. They are usually very helpful with wiring diagrams.

Todd... Got this from www.car-part.com:

1998
Clockspring for Air Bag
Subaru Impreza A T337 $45 Whiteys Wrecking USA-WA(Spokane) E-mail 1-800-735-2376

While it's in the state of Washington, it's probably only $10 to ship it. - AB

That's very very cool...

For what's its worth, Wagners swapped out 3.... yes 3 different instrument clusters for my project e30. Third was a charm and only had 90k on the odometer... They never complained, just said "Try this one, if its junk bring it back."

That's customer service
