Volvo has announced that there will be a 2011 C30 and that it will be available in the US exclusively in T5 trim for $24,600 ( an extra $850 for destination and delivery charges). Volvo showcased the C30 T5 in Frankfurt and what impressed the audience most about it was its neo-brake. The C30’s fascia was revised and its bumpers were remodeled to bring the C30 in line with the future of Volvo design. It can’t be denied that the C30 is alluring and what makes it even more attractive is its reasonable pricing, especially if you consider that it has the power to generate 227 horsepower due to its inline-five engine hooked to a six-speed manual.
For those with more discriminating taste, there is the C30 T5 R-Design that has a lowered ride height and a monochromatic bodykit that makes the car look like it’s hunkered way down over its new 18-inch wheels.
Volvo claims that the best part of the R-Design package would be its suspension tweaks. The stiffer bushings make the steering more direct and the rack’s ratio is faster. Spring rates are up, and the dampers and the swaybars have been stiffened too.
And it isn’t even that expensive at $26,950 (plus $850 D&D), which is actually a small bargain for the tastefully styled Volvo hatch with sharpened teeth. But then of course, the pricing could quickly go up once you add your preferences on the options list

I like this one. I'd like it better if it were $6k cheaper.

That's one good looking hatchback. Wouldn't have expected that from Volvo.

I test drove one last year when I was last looking for a car....Nice interior layout, four bucket seats with folding rears...Small hatch opening (cannot fit golf clubs) and overall felt like a mobile IKEA. Not that that's bad or anything. The transmission was not great, but that was the manumatic one not the 6-speed. Shares a bit in common with the Mazda3 platform (drivetrain notwithstanding), and as mentioned above the options will jack the price very quickly.
