OMG !!!! A V6, 305hp, that gets 30mpg highway with a 6-speed.
That is unheard of. You Ford guys rock.

Oh wait, my V8, 405hp, gets 30mpg highway with a 6-speed.
Never mind...

Well, give Ford some slack. They didn't get tax money from every american to fund their RnD effort. They had to design this on their own.

That motor is an LS6 sitting in my 2002 Corvette. Designed and built long before bail out money.

That aside I was kidding. I'm glad you Mustang boys are buying American. I do not want to see Ford sink anymore than Chevrolet.

Your 0.56:1 6th gear will do wonders for mileage, and I'll bet it's a big help on track.. when you want to go 250 mph :). Big motors do all right on gas if you keep the revs down. With it's original 2.73 final drive, my 1990 5.0L Mustang would get 29mpg if you kept it below 1600 rpm (65 mph).

I wish my new Mustang had a 6-speed with the big overdrive, since 2100 rpm is way too high for 75 mph cruising. Best highway mileage I've seen from it was 27mpg (Durham-DC-Durham when gas was over $4/gal last year).
