1985 CRX DX 1.5l carb'ed, 175k, 76hp. Broken timing belt and one bent exhaust valve (as far as I can tell). Got it for next to nothing.

Decisions, decisions.... On one hand I don't need another project, but it would be fun to restore this on the cheap ($10 valve, $30 gasket kit, and $15 belt). I have a soft spot for Hondas of my youth.

Only other issues are missing headlights (stolen while car was sitting on side of the road) and cracked driver's mirror. Everything else looks complete, intact, and mostly original. I think it's got the original exhaust on it.

And parked right outside is a 1988 Integra parts car which could donate many parts to the CRX to give it a 42 HP bump in power. This would involve a little more work than just fixing the existing motor.

What do you think I should do? :)

Straman conversion?

Actually, they are supposed to be a good fit for the new G Prepared.

The trophy on the bottom right corner is crooked. Just wanted to point that out.

Seriously though, fix it Mike. That sounds like a fun project that you could easily tinker with and just sell it when the you get bored for $1500-2000.

Get it running and "trade it" on the next generation CRX to be known as the CR-Z. Same basic size/package. Think of what you could do to improve the performance of the Hybrid's electric motor, especially with a six speed manual.

Glad to help :) It's like a support group for us stupid people who love cars.

In case anyone is wondering, I saw this car sitting on the side of the road near my house with no license plate for a few weeks. The other day I stopped to check it out, and saw that it was going to be towed by the Cary PD on Tuesday. Car was unlocked so I poked around and found the owner's address and phone number. I called and reminded him that his broken car was about to get even more costly to him since it was going to be towed soon. 2 hours later my wallet was several twenties lighter and I had a signed title and keys.

I sold my '84 Civic S before any of the 33 numbered vacuum lines attached to the 1bbl carb (or was it 2bbl? In either case, it was tiny) starting leaking. The suspense was killing me.

The guys over in Triad love those things. Put it up for sale on their forum for $5K :)
