So I heard a song from Volbeat on Sirius the other day... Tuesday before Thanksgiving I think... as of today I've bought three of their (apparently) four albums (six or so if you include Dominus) off iTunes.

I've always been drawn to bands with unique "voices" I think, and Volbeat is no exception. Here are the ingredients needed to get a feeling for the sound:

* Metallica
* Godsmack
* Elvis
* Johnny Cash
* Rockabilly
* Steel guitars
* 12-bar blues
* Offspring
* Kilgore ($25 off the next Asphalt Ventures event if you can prove you owned a Kilgore CD before this post!)
* Disturbed

Did I hear that they are opening up for Metallica?

I like them too love Sirius channel 20.

They were/are opening for them on the fall leg... but they aren't anywhere close since Charlotte last October I think (and like I said, not sure they opened then or not)

wow, I guess I march to a different band completely. Right now I'd say my favorite artists are Praful, Liquid Soul and Down to the Bone. Heard all the R&R I can stand. Turning more to acid jazz just to hear something different. I dumped XM earlier this year because they killed my favorite jazz channel along w/ fine tuning, the non-genre specific channel. I've turned to down loading jazz from emusic.

damn, guess I'm getting old....

Not at all man... these guys just sounded fresh and unique "to me", I'm sure I'll have had enough of them after a couple more weeks lol.
