I got a new toy. It's a Countourhd helmet camera.

Here is a vid I made the other day at lake crabtree. I put music on it because there was so much wind noise that's all you heard. I am going to have to modify the mic to reduce the wind noise.

It records in hd but I am still trying to figure out what the best format is to post with. I also realized my computer is woefully inadequate for playing videos. I played it on my dad's mac pro and was shocked at how much better the quality was.

How does it look on your computer??

Video quality looks pretty good to me. Got a link to the camera you're talking about? I've got a new GoProHD on order (via the TrackDaze folks) and am planning to do some helmet mount action with it soon. I've got probably 10 miles of decent trails here now that include a few toys...teeter-totters, suspension bridges, split-log crossings (one is about 14" wide and 30 feet long, but the penalty for falling off of it is just landing in some muck about a foot down). Have one jump over a creek-bed, too. Need more jumps here and there.

I got the first conourhd which records 720. It was on sale. They are coming out with a 1080 version with some better features and adjustability. The main drawback to this camera is it does not have a view finder. You need something to plug it into like a lap top to view the videos.

This is the one I really want but I don't have 3g to blow. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... ideo.html#

Wow, that Sony does look pretty killer. But I guess for $3k it ought to be! And then you have to deal with farkin Memory Stick. Ugh.

The ContourHD looks good, too. But yeah, the viewfinder on the GoProHD will come in handy, but sometimes you still just have to take a guess when doing helmet-cam kind of stuff, so it may not matter either way. I'm tempted to go handlebar with the GoProHD. Guessing the vibes may be too bad, even with the big plush front fork, though.

I'm sort of tempted to use my battery setup for my Chasecam stuff to do a rear-view camera in SD while I do a front view in HD with the GoProHD. Then do a PIP video. Problem is iMovie doesn't do PIP...would have to upgrade my software. *sigh*

I got cyberdiretor 8 since I did not have anything decent to edit video. It's really easy to use and it was cheap.

The main problem with making videos and posting them is the quality that YouTube and vimeo can support. It's nice to have 60 fps in 1080, but you can't post it in that high a quality.

I use a Mac, but I forgot I already bought Final Cut Express. I could do it with that. I'm just used to using iMovie, which can't do PIP.

Yeah, the posting thing does suck, but I don't shoot video *just* for that. But YouTube is letting you do some higher quality stuff now, so it's not as bad as it used to be.

iMovie '09 does it.

Crappy video tutorial:

Better tutorial, nothing like a 10 year old telling you what to do ;)
