First thing that came to mind with the convert was "chick car". I may be bucking the early trend, but I kind of like the look of the car. It's different for sure.

Any word on weight vs. standard Mini?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

On the coupe, has it spun the ugly meter all the way back around to cool?

I haven't decided yet.

Are these just concept/show cars or preproduction models? S variants?
Guess Mini decided that since they were getting booted up to D/S next year, might as well dominate C/S instead?

from what I've read, these will only come as S versions, will be approximately 200 lbs lighter, and are actually slated for production MY2011.

I'm not so sure these would really be all that competitive in CS, but maybe I'm wrong. FWD with lack of a proper LSD is bound to hurt. Seems like the RX-8 would still own it despite being a bit heavier.

The coupe looks like a chopped mini. Other than that it's still the same ugly car. I can't see anyone being the middle of love/hate when it comes to these cars. Low or high roof.

As far as I know they're still selling the Cooper S-models with a mechanical LSD-- its only the JCW models that only have the electronic LSD.

The couple is my favorite-- it varies from the standard Cooper by having the windshield being swept back at a steeper angle, and the unique roof shape. Other than that its still a MINI.

both of them have the windshield swept back more, its just more obvious on the coupe

That has got to help the top end, current car has the same drag coefficient of a brick

These are final production models being shown. No real technical data yet.
