Getting ready to fly to lake Tahoe. Is there a way I can rip some DVDs to iTunes so I can watch them on the plane? What is some shareware/freeware that will convert?

what operating system?

For OS X I'd use Handbrake.

To make things faster, use Mac the Ripper to make images of the disks (about 30 min per disk), then let Handbrake run over night (probably 2 hours per movie).

I know nothing of what iTunes requires for formats, etc... but RipIt4Me is a very easy to use front end tool (uses DVDDecryptor and DVDShrink on the backend), which will let you decrypt the movies and get the feature title only, then use AutoGK for DivX conversion to a reduced movie file size/quality for playback on a portable device.

iTunes will do all the work for you. IIRC, just put the movie in, and iTunes will ask if you want to download the movie.

I think that was all I had to do. I remember it being stupid simple, I just haven't done it in a while.
