Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I'm getting a little sick of this guy.

--Karl, who wonders...how many takes did he require to get that one, "seamless" film? I see tire tracks all over the place...

I agree he and his driving antics are overexposed at this point. But if you are a Top Gear fan (as I am), it's still fun to see James May (aka Captain Slow) in the car with him.

There are lots of nasiocers who think he's totally the best driver in the world, brah! But there are plenty of people in this club alone who could do the same stuff he's doing. It's still fun to watch, though.

So I am not the only one wanting him to crash (but not hurt James May)

Not to argue the point, but if we can setup a course at LB for you to do that I'll be there. I'm not saying you can't, I'm just saying I'd like to see it. This reminds me of drifting...it's not nearly as easy as one would think IMO.

I'll argue the point. I doubt there's anyone in this club that could do what he did in "that video" for even as long as any one camera clip. At least not repeatably with that kind of precision. Sure, he took a couple takes to get it, but I'd bet it wasn't terribly many. Sure, the tire tracks are from practicing and perhaps other takes, but it's incredible driving nonetheless.

Anyway, setup a course *THAT* long at LB for an entire day and I don't see anyone in this club able to put together that much footage or anywhere close to it. I'd love to be proven wrong, and the person to do it would be a Youtube hero to boot.

Drifting is one of those things that EVERYONE thinks is easy because they've drifted a few corners in a row or done some cool shit on dirt. It's a LOT harder on tarmac like that, and few even have a car that's set up to do it, let alone the tire budget to practice it much. Can you get decent in the dirt for not a lot of money? Sure. Decent. Block is over-fan-boy-ed to some degree, but overexposed? I don't think so. He's got serious skills.

Well, he was the only one that REALLY, REALLY impressed me on the Super Special Stage at STPR. He was inches from the tires, with the car already rotated in the opposite direction before he got to the tire. Amazing. But yes, given enough money and the same amount of practice he's had, I could do that, and so could thousands of other people all around the world. Like Karl said, take a look at all the extra tire marks. Where do you think they came from?

But on the other side of that coin, he didn't get a practice lap at STPR, and he still nailed it.

And who the Hell else goes out and does this kind of thing, videos it with this kind of quality and puts it on the Internet for everybody to enjoy? I'm a big fan just because of that - with or without the videographers, I'd be doing that stuff all the time if I had his money. Yay Ken. :D

Or wondering how many times he's already crashed.

Seriously, it's fabulous that he's such a gifted driver. It really is. But the "phenomenon" of his videos being all over the internet, with eleventy brazillion views, has the smell of him stroking his own impossibly large ego. I guess that's what I find a little irritating.

The part about how you get your license there gave me chills. Don't you think it would be great if WE had to do that?
