Gang - since I know some of you poke around the local salvage yards from time to time, I'm wondering if you can help me. I'm looking for a yard that has 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty trucks on site. What I'm specifically after is a 2000+ cupholder in gray.

I've called Wagners, and I've been to both LKQ (Garner) and City Auto Salvage (Durham). Nobody has any. Which seems impossible, given the large numbers of these trucks Ford built and sold. I have no idea where they've all gone when they've been crashed.

Anybody have any ideas where I could find such a thing? A new one from Power Stroke Shop costs $60, so I'm hoping to find one at a salvage yard for less.

(The details: my F250 is a 1999, and comes with a cupholder that is famous for not working well. The 2000+ trucks have a superior design that bolts right in)

Jeremy, it looks like this:

Excursion works, F150 won't.

Thanks!

A friend on Facebook seems to have found one on eBay. Current bid is $36 plus $8 shipping. I always forget to look on eBay for stuff. Mostly because when I search "F250 cupholder," I tend to get all manner of unrelated items.

Thanks Aaron. I'd already tried that site. Trouble is, it's impossible to drill down far enough to get to just the cupholder. Best I could come up with was "dash panel" and similarly large items.

On the phone with City Auto Salvage, the guy told me an interesting story. He claimed that Super Duty trucks all get snapped up at auction and sent to third world countries, particularly the 7.3L diesel ones. They last forever, and will run fine on the poor quality fuel in said countries. I guess that makes sense, but it still seems strange that there would be *zero* in the local yards.

Thanks Jeremy! Sounds promising. I had an Excursion, so I know that one out of an Excursion will work. I'm after gray, but if the price is right, I can probably be had on a tan one and just paint it to match.

Here is the how-to for removing the cupholder. Apparently, all that's needed is a 7mm socket, an extension, and a ratchet:

Jeremy is the man of the hour! Thanks sir.

Edit: the one Jeremy found was tan. No matter - Majestic Solutions sells plastic dyes in various shades of gray. It's not quite a perfect match, but it's an F250, so the dash is already about eleventy shades of gray anyway  . Eight bolts out, then eight bolts in, and I've got a cupholder that doesn't sling coffee all over the truck in left hand turns. A most worthwhile upgrade for any of you who may have 1999 F250/F350 trucks.

I despised the cup holder in my 98 F150, sounds like your truck had the same one. The one in my 08 F250 is like the one you just got -- MUCHO better!!!

BTW, I have a Ford parts contact if you ever want his number. He is over here on this side of the state, but will ship stuff to your door.

I'd be interested in that number. I've been using Tousley from the NW, but would be gla to try someone more local.
