So, I was thinking of taking my car and making it a dedicated track car. Of course then I would have to get a daily driver. Driving Minis is invaluable to my business so ....

http://s636.photobucket.com/albums/uu90 ... ace%20Car/

Decided to buy this, and keep my current car as a daily driver. Part of my justification was I could leave it out front of my business all the time to act as 24 hour advertising. Now I am worried about leaving it with just the plexiglass (read removable by hand from outside the car) in the parking lot. Any ideas, besides adding window assemblies back in (which I don't have) to make more secure?

On a side note, I thought I could recoup some of the cost by taking all the mods off my currrent car and selling BUT wifey thinks she might want to start tracking. Of course she wants my car to stay in the currrent configuration. This is getting more expensive all the time!!!

Dedicated track car? For what? The two Porsche club events you attend each year? :P

Unless they build a golf course at VIR or a road course in Pinehurst'...

You could build a big lockable plastic bubble around it so it would be secure, but visible to the outside world.

Alternatively, you could use it as the daily driver

hey i think Cline actually did three events last year.

i would only leave it in front of the building during business hours, unless of course you have spotlights for night time advertising. i see no good becoming of leaving it for someone to "borrow" for the evening.

and actually VK, Cline is just tired of being passed all the time.

Cline, I think the best option is probably to buy "real" glass for it and then figure out a way to make it semi-easy to install and remove (but just forget the crank stuff...fab a simple way to pin it in place or something). Then between events you have real glass in it that looks and "feels" secure when parked. I'd do that over the lexan since the lexan will weather if left outside over long periods of time anyway.

And put a car alarm on it.

And make sure your insurance agent is informed about your security precautions.

Vk, I started to end my post with "VK insert crack my >>>> for not going to enough events here.

Donnie, Thats what I was thinking. Taking the steering wheel off would also deter a little.

Steve, in greenville we have electricity 24/7

Prove me wrong and I'll stop harrasing you. :P :whip: A good benchmark for you to shoot for is what I did in 2007. I did 12 HPDE's, 8 autocrosses, and 6 rallycrosses.

OK 2007: Wife shattered foot in freak movie theater accident, couldn't walk for two weeks 4 more weeks in cast

I hit 120lb dog flipped off motorcycle at 55mph, broke foot, wife still in cast for her broken foot.

Rebuilt said motorcycle while recovering.

Was medalist in NC Mid Amatuer while walking on broken foot.

Planned arranged and paid for daughters wedding reception and most family members in Wisconsin

Got rearended in Mini broke both seats, hit head on a pillar, Post Concussion syndrome. Wife badly bruised up, drove to Florida to pick up new mini, took months to recover and get money from other company I won't name, oh what the heck State Farm.

bougnt new motorcycle.

Basic boring year, your right, should have done more HPDEs

HPDE's are certainly safer than what you are doing! Well, unless you start doing them on a motorcycle. :P

I wouldn't mind a road course in Pinehurst one bit. Although Walter's Camaro might upset the golfer's back swing a little bit.

If they paved over Pinehurst they could make a really nice road course...
