at least it rules in this one, specific, isolated case. . .

Saw this video on another site and thought I'd post it though. Its a HELL of a save.

What, what? I say chaps, all of us Brits drive like that - it's the best way to get through the roundabouts.

I probably watched this five times last week. It's amazing.

"Jason does a fantastic save after being hit from behind by Jonathan Adam as they enter Paddock Hill Bend at nearly 100 MPH.
Jonathan was subsequently given a four second penalty which handed Jason the win."

Why are the brits driving a Chevy? I didn't know they made any sedans that could beat the BMWs. Plato is an amazing driver and a really funny guy.

It helps when you can use the retaining wall to limit your slip angle :)

My FWD story: I had to work late on the last night of my business trip, and I was hustling to get to the "Cap 3000" shopping mall before it closed to buy Christmas gifts. 8 PM, starting to snow, and I got into the corner too fast and lifted. WOT and opposite lock kept me and my rental Chrysler Neon from sliding backwards into space. As best I as I can recall, it was near this spot, where they have since thoughtfully added guard rails.

There was a similar bump and power drift of a FWD car at the 2008 SCCA Speed World Challenge touring car race at Road America. Can't find a video of it however.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Fantastic driver car control skill -- watch carefully the angle of the front tires in the slow motion replay starting about 0:56 or so. Notice how on the initial hit he gives a full dose of opposite lock, but as the car slides sideways, he has neutralized the steering angle and is preparing for the snap-back already when it comes by dialing in steering angle the other way -- ahead of the car at every point by just enough to save it. Amazing job. I'm sure he had his vision down course the whole way too.

While I don't doubt Ken Block has skills, I do doubt his ability to save a car that's been hit on a road course without 500whp and an AWD car. - AB
