The legs were tough to get spinning correctly. I finally got them right for the first day. Sometime in the afternoon of the second day, they got loose and started to make the head vibrate. I didn't know there was such a thing as plexiglass fatigue, but that's what happened. The fracture started at a bolt hole in the front near the neck. We still have him with most of his head, but minus his neck and upper back.
I was going to use it as a lawn ornament, but will probably just have a memorial service now!
I will save the legs for future projects. I tried many designs before I got these to work. The air flow over the car limits forward spinning. I actually told the team before the race, "There is no way these legs are going to spin."
