So the Miata is close to being back on the road. Not quite yet, but very very soon. Thanks to Wes, the transmission is back in the car, so we are one step closer.

I know I need a battery and I know that someone on here has bought one recently.

So where did you buy it? And what battery did you get?

Also on a side note, what spark plug wires did you put on and where did you get those?

I find the cheapest NGK wires and Iridium IX plugs on Ebay from a seller with good feedback. Should be about $50 in all.

I got the adsorbed glass mat battery from Batteries Plus in Garner. It was their "own brand". Don't get a battery from Mazda, they're now wet cells instead of AGM and more expensive.

I'm looking at eBay now. Thanks for the tip, I never think of looking there.

The Battery, is the "Werker" brand Batteries Plus' brand? I only saw that and Optima yellow top on their site. And I don't want to spend $175 on a yellow top. (Even though it is more yellow and therefore faster!!)

See here for where I just got mine, as well as discussion on the AutoZone one.

I got mine at Batteries plus. It is a wheelchair battery and was much less than the regular Miata batteries. Had it for 2 or 3 years and no problems.

That's not legal for certain classes that require stock size batteries (like *S and ST*).

Yeah, unless they changed the rules, ST* can run any size battery they want. Mine was a full 6 lbs :) - AB

Thanks Dustin and Rob.

Rob, which battery did you get? They have so many that it gets rather cofusing.

And the prices of the the plugs and wires has gone up on eBay. I only found 2 vendors and they both want ~$70 shipped. I'll probably still order them unless I can find a smokin deal somewhere else.

It is a Werker (With little funny dots over the "e") It is not any smaller than the stock battery and I have had no problems with it.

Todd, Did you get your battery? I'm not on the forums regularly so I just saw this. Here's the thread link from my post with the same question last fall. I ended up getting one from CarQuest because it was more convenient to me. They said it was the Deka. I think it was ~$110 with tax.

Thanks Emmie, I actually did end up with a Werker AGM battery from Batteries Plus. It was right at $100 (plus tax of course).

Rebecca and I are happy to have the car running again!!

I have the ETX16 (maybe EXT18) in both my BMW as well as my Subaru. They are sold at some local Advance Auto Parts under the brand PowerSportsPro Extreme (or something like that). They are effectively a JetSki battery, and will require a terminal adapter, available at Batteries Plus:

http://www.batteriesplus.com/p-23760-m6 ... apter.aspx

I had actually ordered this part from the website, which it doesn't appear you can do online anymore, and the couple BatteriesPlus stores I had called didn't have it in stock.

These batteries have been great, however. Both are going on a year old now, and have never left me stranded, despite their puny size.
