I was ripping all my old miniDV tapes to my Mac this weekend and stumbled upon some night series video. Threw one up on my blog. I miss those events!

I also have some video from one of the RBC night event. I think this is 9/12/2002

I cringe now when I watch some of my older video. I look like I am wrestling a bear in the car the way I am fighting the car.

I miss the night series as well.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I cringe when I see my older video. But I cringe when I see my newer video, too!

The really hard stuff for me to watch is my early SM video. It's painful.

As the official THSCC "Prince of Past and Future Darkness" I really wish we could revive the series. But alas, without the RBC center, its just not logistically possible. Greenville is our only site with lights now and its way too far away to work plus I doubt he would want to clear his lot that often.

First time I met you Donnie was at a night series event. You had the twin turbo 911 out there. That was my first ride in one of those, though autocrossing in the RBC parking lot didn't really do it justice.

Yeah, I still remember giving you and Tom Hoppe rides in it that night. Tom was like "all that sideways action isn't fast, but damn it's fun!" :D

And yeah, stretching its legs on VIR South course was a bit more fun.

x2. I remember a ride on South course about 6 years ago with the cop school. Yeah, it was fast, even on street tires. - AB

Could we invade "Triad Territory" and do something at the Greensboro Colluseum?

They'd never do it at the price that we paid, plus that site is shyte and the management sucks. They've dropped a rather large corn encrusted deuce on Triad this year too.

True, but a two person autocross is gonna be expensive. ;)

The formula for a successful night series really depends heavily on location and rental fee. You need enough participants to at least break even. RBC was cheap enough that 25-30 participants would do it and there were enough people located close enough to leave work at 5pm, be ready to go by ~6:30pm, wrap up and pack up by ~9:30.

Yeah, unfortunately the night series like we had at RBC is probably a relic of the past much like racing thru the streets of Wilson are.
