Once again, I am calling on the generosity of my great friends and family to help me raise money for a cause that is near and dear to me.

On March 28th of this year, Team Walking for Nana and Nina are walking in the 2009 Triangle Kidney Walk to help raise money for the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina.

For those who don't know, my Mother (Nana to her grand kids) was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure in 2004. She has been on the transplant list since December 2005. Unfortunatley a transplant hasn't happened yet. We are still hopeful that a transplant will happen before she has to go on dialysis.

Remember, dialysis is not a cure for kidney disease, it is only life support.

This Saturday, Valentines Day, will be the one year anniversary of the death of our dear friend, Susie Trevino. Susie and my mother met on a website that helps those living with Kidney Disease have a safe place to vent there frustrations about all their experiences. I invite you to check this site out - it has truly become my Mothers second family. www.Ihatedialysis.com. Susie's screen name was GoofyNina on the forums.

In October of 2007 the website had there first ever country-wide meet up! We met in Las Vegas for a long weekend and had an incredible time! This is where my mother and I first met Susie in person. As we saw her walking towards us in the casino we couldnt help but laugh! She had on a tiara, purple boa and a sash that said `Drama Queen`!! She had a personality that welcomed everyone! She was so kind and silly, her husband adored her and so did her friends, you just knew she was someone you wanted to know. Susie suffered from Renal Failure, as does my mother. In February of last year Susie took a turn for the worse. It was so quick. On Valentines Day, 2008, my mother and I received a call telling us that Susie had passed away. She was 40 years old.

That night my sister created this team for the first annual Triangle Kidney Walk, within 1 1/2 months we raised over $7,000! We raised more than any other team last year and a trophy is proudly displayed in my Parents house telling everyone who enters how much our family and friends care!

We couldnt have done this without all of you! Last year you were so generous, and I know, the situation for everyone is much different this year. The economy is suffering, we are all nervous about the future. Please remember, this fear of the future is the same fear those living with Kidney Failure live with every day, every moment. Any amount will help. If you are unable to donate at this time, please, sign up to walk with us instead! Be there with us on March 28th - walk with us, show my mother and all those living with this horrible disease how much you care.

Follow this link to donate or join our team!

And please, above everything, take a moment this Saturday to be greatful for your health and say a small prayer for Susies husband and family.

Thank you for your help
