Eh, the title of this thread should have tipped you off to that. This is the "lounge", let them rant if they keep it civil, I for one enjoy reading it. If they start crapping up threads in tech talk or the autocross forum called "tire pressures for concrete" or "Sanford Autocross" with political stuff, I can see the complaint but "Hope y'all republicans is happy" in the lounge I see as fair game.
But Brice, "just don't click on the link" doesn't really work.
Imagine it this way. You and I are in a big group of people at an autocross, talking about tire pressures or some other car thing. In walks somebody with "I hope y'all Republicans are happy." My response is to either ask them to leave, or leave myself.
What I'm asking people to stop doing isn't an uncommon thing. It's a pretty widely held notion that you don't talk about politics (or religion) in large circles. It's not polite. What I'm asking isn't a big ask, it's sort of a widely held notion.
I'm pretty sure it's a club policy that political rantings have no place on this forum. I won't swear to it, but if it isn't, I'm an officer, and I'm going to try to get it in print. I'll be happy to be told no - it's a club, not a dictatorship - but I'm gonna put the effort in to see if I can stop people doing it. If the club decides all this political diatribe stuff is the way they want to go, I probably won't try and talk them out of it - I'll just leave. There's another club right down the highway, maybe they don't do this stuff.
So yeah - I feel pretty strongly about this. You can try and talk me out of it, but my suggestion is to not waste your time. You're not going to convince me.
