It now appears that the #58 car is losing all its points and being fined for being 12 lbs underweight at the end of the race. Due to the fact that it was basically out of oil, water, and fuel. I did not hear any talk of taking away the victory though.

I have mixed feelings about the situation with #58. The probably were underweight due to loosing fluids at the very end and I don't think they were cheating, but they were underweight at the end of the race. I would hate to see them loose the victory, but maybe it's the right thing to do. I don't know. I do agree that they should loose the points.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Anyway, Richard mentioned Brumos, and for a team that isn't ever going to field a Mustang, they're my favorite. The late principal of the organization, Bob Snodgrass was very friendly with the fans, especially when they were inspecting his displays of former class winning cars.

Art,

Reminds me of the time my wife and I were in the Atlanta airport after the Road Atlanta IMSA race back in 1985. We had a program sticking out of a bag, and some guy next to us asked us if we went to the race and enjoyed it. After a bit, I asked him if he went too. He said, "yeah, I was driving today." Turns out it was Hurley Haywood. I had been following him and IMSA for many years at that point, and it was great to meet him. I was surprised how friendly he was to strike up a conversation with a mere racing fan in an airport that night. I've always thought that if I bought a Porsche someday, I would like to buy it from Brumos.

Link? Neither crash.net nor espn.com nor grand-am.com have anything about this.

And when you get caught, you should surrender the win (and the 4x$12K Rolexes).

Apparently, there's different grades of cheating. This was" fine you for less than the trophy watches value". As opposed to "fine you for the first place position"
