I received the following from Jean Wilkins, who is now working for Childress-Howard racing. They are sponsoring a Charity auction next Monday morning and need to drum up some interest from the racing community (people who appreciate right turns too!). Please cross-post this to other boards if and where appropriate. Thanks!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Monday, December 22, WAKG Radio station in Danville will host a
charity auction, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the
Danville-Pittsylvania Counties Salvation Army Christmas Fund. This is
a great cause that serves children in that area who would otherwise
have very little under the tree.
Several items of interest to motorsports fans are up for auction.
These include
Childress-Howard VIR race package for April 2009 at VIR
• Honorary team membership for two people
• Sunday race admission
• Lunch in the Grand Am team hospitality area
• Childress-Howard Team gear (shirts & hats)
• Driver "meet and greet" (Andy Wallace & Rob Finlay)
• Your photograph with the drivers, signed and framed
• A feature story about your day, posted on the team website
• And maybe some surprises!
Danica Patrick package
• Hero card (signed by Danica) from the 2006 race season, when she
drove the Callaway sponsored Crawford Daytona Prototype at the Rolex
24 hour race
• Team gear from that 2006 race (polo shirt and Callaway golf windbreaker
Other auction items related to motorsports include two season passes
to VIR spectator events, and a night's stay at The Lodge at VIR.
The auction will be held on WAKG Radio station from around 6:15 am to
10:00 am on Monday December 22. Anyone can call in to bid, even if
they are not within "listening distance." The number is
1-800-289-WAKG (9254).
