Finally put in gauges that have been in my storage cabinet since last February. Strut bar brace ( have to do a little mod to the sound insulation to fit) Perhaps a little more body repair from my recent award winning shunt. Still undecided about going to race seats.

There are a couple of wish items, but definitely on the list of to-do's are:

99 Cobra hardtop
- replace the front brake ducts (blew one out at VIR, it was trailing 30' behind the car, lol)
- replace the XP10 and XP8 brake pads with XP12 and XP10s
- change diff fluid
- change oil
- have the tint removed from all windows
- replace the headlight mounting panel
- remove the a/c radiator thing (all other a/c components are already gone)
- install a breather tank (catch can) for the valve covers
- consider stripping the interior

01 Cobra convertible
- change the front brake pads
- change the oil

Cline, I thought I show you how to go off track without breaking anything??????
Will we have to redo it again?

Kevin,

On the Carbotech pads. Just a note. I started with XP8 on all corners. Then went XP10/XP8. Then XP12/XP10. The XP10s wear a lot better than XP12s. You'll burn up the 12s quicker. So budget accordingly. I ate up a set of XP12s in 3 DE weekends. And they were down to the end and cracked like crazy. They do improve stopping over the XP10. Not sure if it it is worth the added cost though.

I'm testing Hawk DTC70s now.

Graham

Graham,

Thanks for the insight.... good points. I had heard something along those lines about the 12s from a couple of others, but not as concisely as you put it.

I really like the XP10/XP8 setup as far as braking power, distances, and longevity on the hardtop (my weight is somewhere north of 3600lbs with me in it). I bought the XP12/XP10s back in October assuming I was going to go through my 10/8 setup at CMP. I'll give the 12/10 setup a chance and then go back to 10/8s if I don't like it.

Keep us updated on the DTC70s.

Kevin

Mine's at Colors on Parade right now, getting its front bumper fixed. Again. Once Lloyd says it's safe to do so - I think six weeks is the waiting period - I'm going to try the 3M clear bra stuff.

I was considering having Conover Motorsports build me a custom, splined-end front sway bar for the car. But some people who I really respect reminded me that Eric was sitting in 4th place at Nationals this year in my car, and Art won the Dishman Cup driving it. So maybe, uh, the setup is about as good as it's going to get. I'm leaving it exactly like it is.

Might get new street tires for it though, winter fluid changes, and that's about it. And I'm sure I'll clean it a bunch of times too.

While I know Art's runnings were on mixed surfaces, Eric's finish was on asphalt and you will be now running Nationals on concrete, where I think a bigger bar will help, likely, a lot more than you think. - AB

Aaron,

Karl still has a lot of rebound up front that's not being used and it can still be softened up a bunch in the rear. Plus, he was running mild toe adjustements at both ends. You might be right, but I suspect the car will be OK. I think a good flogging on some 10 and 11 tenths runs will let us know quickly whether it needs more bar - I happyily volunteer for that duty :-) From what I'm hearing, Lincoln is not as grippy as Forbes...which was close to Laurinburg.

The vette: re-valving the rear shocks to make it a more bearable street car and functional autocross car on bumpy surfaces.

The Laser: hopefully get it functional again after my best impersonation of Bo Duke at the last RX without spending too much cash.

The Blazer: unfortunately may need a new transmission. :(

Renovate a master bathroom.

No car plans. Trying to decide if I can afford to buy Wes a set of tires in exchange for a co-drive.

I do toy with the idea of taking the Celica to STS or DSP, but I stop thinking about it when the $$$ are factored in.

You didn't tell me not to have a brain fart in a rather benign part of the track! I guess there aren't any safe places to have such an episode!

I have seats and harnesses in order. I will probably fab up some sort of a camera mount on the roll-bar. I still have some NB top-hats and FatCat bumstops to install. I am pondering a different intake and would like to install my stainless brake lines. After that, a trip to HCHW for an alignment and I should be good. I have already earmarked some of my Christmas bonus for a Evo school maybe even an HPDE. At a minimum, if NASA runs a circuit cross again this year, I hope to do that.
