Are there any sites that have really good deals on Corbeau seats? Club sponsors that sell them? Pretty much every site I have found sells them for list. I am guessing that Carolina Mustangs may be the route to go and save the freight...

Dave (47CP on assorted forums) at SPS sent out an email offering free shipping through the end of the year.

Now through December 31, all orders over $50 get free UPS Ground shipping. Use the Coupon Code: dec08fs

If I were in the market, that's who I would buy from.

Jeb, I know everyone always says this, but it's important, so I'll repeat it.

It's important that you sit in a seat, if possible, before buying it.

You're a pretty slim guy, so a seat that fits someone like me might be no good for you. You might want something smaller.

Not a lot of stores keep seats in stock, I suspect because they're expensive, and they don't sell all that well, so why keep them around when you can just order as needed. I'm sure though that someone, somewhere in the club will have something you can do a test-sit in.

Jeb, I have FX1 pro you can sit in. Be aware that the slider sucks and that it does not slide all the way forward if you like to drive close.

I have a regular FX1 as my driver seat, but I plan to get a Pro and move this one to the passenger side.

X2 on the suckiness of Corbeau sliders - any alternatives out there? I'm considering fixed side mounts, but that would pretty much rule out anyone bigger than munchkin size driving.

I had Corbeau FX1's in my E30. NOT the Pro, just the "regular". They are EVO2 knockoffs, and a little bit wider. Probably good for someone with a 38" waist. Padding is sparse on the bottom and extra cushioning is needed. Otherwise nice seats. I have "real" EVO2's in my M3 now and they are more comfortable, but I can still recommend the FX1.

If I did Corbeau over again I'd get the PRO which is narrower and probably better for my 160#, 5''', 36" waist body. FYI my EVO2's are also a bit big for me.

Cliffs notes:

FX1 = good for 180-200+lb, 38-40+" waist, needs extra seat padding
EVO2 = good for 160-180+lb, 36-38+" waist
FX1 Pro = good for 145-170lb, 34-36" waist (I'm guessing here)

Another good place is Motorsportseat.com. They also make a great brackets and sliders if you need them.

Speaking of seats, I am thinking about trying to organize a "seat-in" for VIR Feb. A list of volunteers with different models would like up during Saturday's lunch hour and everyone can try out different models.

Thoughts?

Mike hit it pretty good on his notes from perspective too. The FX1 Pro is a good fit for a slim build. I put the regular FX1 in the passenger side since it will accommodate a 38" waist. There is also an XL type version for the really big boys.

I agree on the padding too. You do get a good road feel. But I wouldn't want to do an enduro with them. Driving to Road Atlanta in one is a painful experience. I ripped the pad out and threw a pillow in there. These seats are good for the price. You want more comfort for endurance type driving you need to spend 3x that money.

My biggest complaint about the FX1 and FX1 Pro is the side bolster on your thigh is not high enough. It makes ingress/egress easier but you loose support.

Rob is right on the slider. I've haven't any real problems but you can tell they are not solid. If you get one pay the extra $15 for a double locking slider. Solid mounts are the only way to go to get the angle and depth just right.
