This is very interesting news. Apparently the team is for sale, but I am not sure who would step up to buy it at this point. I am guessing the sale is just of basic team assets as well as the F1 team slot, but it’s not like Honda is going to sell off it’s internal racing organization (engine design, etc.)

I think 2009, 2010 and maybe 2011 is going to be very rough for motorsports when it comes to support from major manufactures and large sponsors.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Maybe Porsche dropping support for the LMP2 car and focusing on the GT car was one of the first indicators.

Before we know it, the SCCA runoffs/NASA nationals is going to be the top level of racing in the US.

That would be a good thing since it is probably the best racing out there. Look for the NASA nationals to come east in a couple of years.

Actually I would agree its a good thing. I was trying to make a joke, but frankly I enjoy watching grass roots racing just as much as I enjoy the top level pro side. No matter how bad it gets there is always going to be people who are self funded and scrape up the money to make it happen because it's what they enjoy.
