Thanks for that link Patrice - that's great news. I hate the stickers.

I think it's interesting how you now have to have the car inspected before registering a new / used car. I guess the days of buying a used car with a CEL or bad tires or brakes is over. - AB

I'll be so glad to get rid of the ugly thing on both cars.

I wonder how buying a used car is going to go now? I know the 944 had bald, dry tires and was missing many a bulb when I bought it.

See #14 here: http://www.ncdot.org/dmv/vehicle_servic ... ad/faq.pdf

If you have a car that's been off the road for over a year, I guess you're supposed to tow it to an inspection station, since you won't be able to put plates on it until it's inspected.

No mention of prorating the next inspection fee if the new inspection date is earlier than the one on the sticker. I'm going to lose $2 worth of the last inspection on my Taurus. At least eliminating the stickers and going electronic will make the fees down.

Anyway, thanks to Patrice for posting this. Since I had another car inspected just last Thursday, I had heard that the stickers were going away, but I did not know that the inspection on my Taurus is going to prematurely expire.

Art,

If the inspection is still current when the registration notice arrives you can renew online without a new inspection. This worked for one of our Mustangs and according to things I've read will continue to work for the first year for our other vehicles. DMV has stated that some of us will get much more than one year out of our last inspection.
