The Handee Hugo on Western Boulevard near Avent Ferry Road in Raleigh was charging $4.89 a gallon.

Some gas stations are limiting "fill ups" to 10 gallons

It's just crazy. I think I filled up this morning for $3.53 or so?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The Kangaroo in Cary was crazy busy. You'd think the storm was hitting here and people were headed out of town or something. It had the 10 gallon limit, but regular was only $3.77 which I thought wasn't too bad after hearing worse reports across town. Now the rip off I thought was for premium @ $4.11.

The Six Forks & Wake Forest Rd. Costco is on my way home from work, and the lines were literally across the parking lot a few minutes ago. Meaning, each pump was AT LEAST 15-20 cars deep.

Don't folks understand the time value of money?

I never understood why people are willing to idle for extended periods of time to save the equivalent of a cost of a couple of burgers from Mickey D's.

I ran out this morning right after I got into work to fill up as reports started to come in about the gas prices soaring. I got premium for $3.80 per gallon at about 8:30 am.

This is amazing hysteria sort of like the bread and milk crowd when a 1/4" of snow is forecast.

The real market, the wholesale futures market, was very weak today after an initial move up of about 12 cents/gallon. It then lost all those gains but ended up a whole 2 cents at the close at $2.77/gallon.

Here's a daily bar chart of reformulated blend unleaded (basically unleaded regular wholesale market): http://futuresource.quote.com/charts/charts.jsp?s=XRB%20V8&o=&a=D&z=650x450&d=LOW&b=bar&st=

Crude oil almost broke the $100 level today too...in spite of all the Ike fenzy. The low was 100.03.

Maybe I'm paranoid but all the gas stations in Clayton are "out of regular and mid-grade" - only thing left is Premium. Also it is amazing how they all must have gotten deliveries today of the more expensive gas as the prices all jumped about $.50 a gallon.......

I bet if they had milk and bread at the gas stations it would have sold out. Gotta keep the Hurricane hype going. 8)

Well, I was planning to fill up both the bus and my car in the morning on the way to Laurinburg. Then I read this thread.

Just got back from Four Oaks. Lots of people getting gas at 10:30pm.

Took the car first, paid 3.99/gal. Came back, took the bus. Reg. gas had gone up to 4.19 in 15 minutes. Glad I took the car first. Diesel was the same as it was when I went with the car, at 4.35/gal.

18.4 gal to fill up = $80.13

The fillup on the way to Danville last month was $100, btw.

Filled up the silver Mustang at a north Durham BP for $3.99/gal (regular) on my way home tonight. Later in the evening, was out in my '95 Taurus GL (That's how I roll on Friday nights in Durham  ) and was amazed to see $4.50+ for regular at the Shell near Durham Regional Hospital. Not very busy.

The Kangaroo at Duke & Horton still advertised regular for $3.75 (while the other two stations at the same intersection were over $4.25) The Kangaroo was out of regular and plus, but the premium was $3.97, so I went ahead and filled up.

WTVD was reporting one scammer, er, gas station in Fayetteville charging $5.49 yesterday. This was after the Gov. said he would be prosecuting gougers.

Yesterday morning I had to fill up the Subaru and saw prices in a .5 mile area range from $3.52 - $3.99. I filled up at the Sheetz for $3.54. When Rebecca came home from dropping the kids off at school, 30 minutes later, the prices at Sheetz and Walmart had jumped 30 cents to $3.8x.
