Bland yes, ugly - not quite. Last night a friend was thumbing though the "1965 Official GUIDE 'ALL NEW FOR 1965' New York World's Fair" that my father brought home from a business trip when I was ... very young. He pointed out a Datsun ad (featuring the 410 and the SPL-310 roadster) and expressed surprise that Datsun was importing cars that long ago.

Datsun started importing to the US in 1958. There was a dealer in Winston Salem in '62 or '63.

The Ferrari Dino on the the other thread reminds one of a curvy Italian girl, this reminds me of a big boned girl with a bushy unibrow.

try the velorex car. it was czech made.. under socialist times. it is a little bit
odd

this is the lengthy address for the velorex car.

also. try the dacia car or the wartburg from east germany. the wartburg is certainly very square shaped. the dacia is droopy looking. the dacia is a romanian renault more or less.

Hey, my grandmother had one of those! Every time I visited my grandparents, my grandfather would show me how to sand and touch up the rusty spots around the windows and body panel joints. (The sulphiric acid vapors from the Albemarle Paper factory in Roanoke Rapids made short work of anything made of metal or fabric that you left outdoors.) Anyway, the Valiant was a big step up from the car she traded in, one of those Studebakers that you couldn't tell if it was coming or going...
