... and the front walk.

Went and bought a snowblower in early December, after two 1-foot snow storms. When I bought it, I somehow knew that I wouldn't get to use it until February. So I'm 3 days early, but hey, we finally got more than 2 inches of snow at once so I figured what the heck.

So, I've never used a snowblower before today. I felt like I was mowing the driveway... just like mowing the yard, but on the pavement, and don't "bag" the snow. Weird. Sure made fast work of all that snow though.

Still like it up here despite the cold and the snow. Looking forward to a warm weekend at VIR February 14/15 though. There's only so much sub-freezing weather a body can take without longing for something [relatively] warm. :)

Snowblowers are cool. :)

Snow has so many interesting things to learn about it. Super fun. :)

Things snow/cold up here has taught me so far...

(1) When it's sub-freezing, wait until the windshield warms up BEFORE using the windshield washer fluid.

(2) Starting the car 10 minutes before you want to leave the house RULES!

(3) Gloves are almost a must. Especially if its windy.

(4) Zipping up your coat helps a lot too.

(5) Life can continue when it snows if the state you live in owns more than 1 snowplow and has some big piles of sand and salt to spread around. Heck, they even plow the shoulders on the roads here.

(6) I like my gas boiler. Talk about some nice heat in the house. And in the basement from the boiler itself.

(7) Towels warm from the radiator are MUCH better than cold towels.

(8 ) Snowy days are so totally much better than cold rainy days in the winter. Rain is dreary... Snow has some astetic value.

(9) Frequent fires in the fireplace/woodstove are nice, and effective to heat the house.

(10) Buying a house with a large outdoor hottub was an excellent move.

I'm sure there's more, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Nothing more decedent than sitting in the hottub in the winter with a glass of good champagne, catching snowflakes on your tongue! 8)

You might not be so fond of the snow blower when you have a deep heavy snow to go thru and the wind is blowing in your face! No, someone didn't build a snowman in the driveway, it's just Diane and her snowblower! :D :D
