Indeed, that is interesting. Very interesting.

Then what the hell is he looking at cars that won't fit clubs for?!? :)

Because it would be nice if I had a car that could hold them (believe it or not, I can get mine, Lara's, and Meredith's in the hatch of the xfire.)

But if I have to store the sticks at the club or put 'em in the front seat occassionally, I'll pay that price in order to have a bitchin' ride :P

I think a lightweight bag would fit (actually the salesman claimed that 3 would fit).

Porsche sells their own "skinny" golf bag just for the Cayman, but from the looks of it I agree that any of the off-the-shelf skinnier bags would work. You definitely ain't getting no big ass Calloway bag in there, I can tell you that.

I'm skeptical of three, but two is likely, sure. Don't get in an accident. I'd hate to hear about you getting impaled by a nine iron.

Fixed that.

You know that is a serious consideration, I normally have my clubs sitting behind the passenger seat in the Mini. When I got rearended at 70mp to 15 mph the were not in there. With the seats breaking and jostling us around quite abit I often wonder what would have happened if they were in there. The Caymen would through them at your head wouldn't they?

Off topic I know (just really don't want to work today) did you know that the corinthean leather is from Corinth, Michigan! What a great marketing tool!

Yes I did. And Bryan tells me it cleans up better than regular leather.

Apparently it's not even from Corinth, Michigan either. But it is 100% a marketing phrase that has no special meaning other than to sound impressive.

Speaking of sources of names, I can at least say I am glad I am not from the Greek island of Lesbos (not that there is anything wrong that that).

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Bryan,

Since I've owned 4 Vettes now, 2 of which are C5 Z06s I can give you some feedback on the car. I'm biased so there is no point telling you which one I pick.

On the C5, 1 of the design goals was that 2 golf bags fit in it. Not some GM skinny bag. A real golf bag. The very tail of the car will let you fit 2 sets sideways. Along with the golf bags enough luggage for a week trip to go play. I can easily fit 2 weeks of groceries in this car. When we go to the track I have my clothes bag, helmet and stuff bag, camcorder bag, laptop, cooler, 10x10 canopy, folding chair. All jammed in the trunk. So it is not bad for a sports car.

If you go on those trips or daily drive. On trips with my wife and luggage. Estimate 26mpg no problem on the highway. Some get almost 30mpg. That is coasting in 6th at ~70mph. In town mileage you can squeeze 16-18mpg. On track I average 6-8mpg. I can do 4 sessions on VIR Full with a tank of gas.

As for ride quality and comfort etc... If you are used to sports cars then this one rides just fine for daily driving. I daily drove mine for over a year when I first got it. The seats are comfortable. Everything is within easy reach. Stereo works good. Put a partition in it to block off the trunk for a daily driver. If you drive easy the car is as docile as can be. Entry and exit to the car is much better than the C4. It works fine as a daily driver.

So much for the practical side of the car. Let's talk about why you really want one. Race on weekends drive to work on Monday. The thing is truly Dr. Jekyle and Mr. Hyde.

For AX you have some options and possibilities depending on whether you want to run SS, ASP, SM2. It is very capable in all of those classes. Launch with them is tricky and most people have problems with wheel spin. This car brings on HP/TQ early and often. There are several people who drag races these car on stocks tires and put down impressive 1/4 mile times. So it can be launched quickly. The 04 valved shocks are the only stock choice you want. After that there are some good aftermarket upgrades on shocks and sway bars. New company out there making some seriously nice upgrades just for C5 and C6. That will accommodate all 3 classes for AX. Ask Les how to drive right at an AX. I just have fun with it at AX.

On track. This car was made for track. It might be good in the hands of some people at AX. But it really shines here. Power band is solid and broad so that is not an issue. It handles transitions very well. It also has some pretty good brakes for a factory car. Put some race pads and rcomps on it and it is down right nasty. This is not a fast in a straight line only car. Add some race seats and harnesses so you can sit still even better. Mostly what the car needs that isn't there from the factory for hard track use. I had to add an external oil cooler, extended the factory brake ducts in the front all the way down to the spindles. That's really about it.

If you drive a C5 there is a difference between the coupe and the Z06. You really need to drive the Z06. I've had mine for going on 3 years. I still get excited when I drive it. But I'm old and slow so it doesn't take much...

From a GM High Performance article. These guys test drove an 04 Z06 for a week.

I love this line...

"A week spent dealing with this puppy's monumental g-forces has curdled our short-term memory like a double-barrel bong hit. This is the first new GM vehicle I'm proud to say that I could easily kill myself in--and that, my friends, is a good thing."

Graham

"double barreled bong hit" now that is some editorial color. what was that thing called that rotated one hitters as if it were a revolver? eh, short term memory, most memories what is the difference?

i despise cones, but i am learning to enjoy my 04 Z06 in moderation on the track. given my propensity to hit shit (no pun intended) i only bring it to the track occasionaly. i am very impressed with the Michelin Pilot Sports as a drive to, drive on and drive home tire.

come on over to the dark side Bryan. even Cline will be driving a Corvette one of these days. now if i could just convince him domestic beer is better, i would be golden. 8)

I saw somewhere recently that the people of the island of Lesbos are suing some Lesbian group because they think their lifestyle gives the island a bad name.......seriously.
