Somebody (not me) needs to buy Miles Beam's C4 to run in AS as a benchmark for Les in SM. Miles' car is proven fast "as is" assuming a fresh set of stickies. It was fast with VictoRacers even when they were no longer the trick tire compared to H's or 710's. Very easy to drive fast.

Then stop what you're doing, sell the LGSC to the next unsuspecting person, and go buy this 1991 Z07 C4: http://www.thscc.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7032

I got a chance to drive it a few years ago at Greenville, and while it's an entirely different answer to the A-Stock question than Karl's most excellent S2000, it was an absolute ball to drive. Torque here, torque there, torque everywhere. The L98 motor is all about torque.
:D :D :D All in a fairly light car with wide tires. (Don't get me wrong, I'm allergic to Chevys, but if that wasn't the case I'd be on the phone to Miles.)

At least go look at it before you start spending money on the wrong car.

Note to Les:
Remember to update your autocross registration for this weekend.

Congrats. If the car payment thing makes you happy. More power to you Les. Having owned both I would be hard pressed to back to a C4. Though I thought about after the Z06 got totaled.

The C4 can still be very competitive. It's so well documented even a Miata owner could figure out how to do it. Go see the folks at VB&P. Here is the kit to put on it.

http://www.vbandp.com/detail.aspx?ID=575

Is that DRM motor their 383 stroker? Those will take a beating. Couple of my track buddies are running C4s with a 383 and they give up nothing in power to a stock C5 Z06 or C6.

I see your taste in color hasn't improved

You are the second person to recommend that suspension package, maybe that is the way to go. The DRM kit is not the stroker, just all the top end stuff. Its not quite as fast as the Z06, but the PO ran a 13.0 at Rockingham. I believe the 375 hp rating. Yellow rulez.

Was his name Art McDonald?

Ha!

Hopefully by the time I'm done with this thing, I'll be able to show you Honduh bois my tailights. Of course if I couldn't manage that in a C5Z, I probably won't in a C4 of any flavor... We shall see...

Well, if it's any consolation, I don't think *anybody* has shown Art their taillights this year. Kind of makes me want to find an old fox body Mustang.

(OK, that part's not true).

Seriouly, as far as getting the suspension and whatnot set up, talk to Chip Stabler. He's won a lot of races in a C4. Ed and Craig Gelston would be good people to talk to also, as would Mark Vitacco. Obviously theirs are all going to be track setups, but it might give you a starting point.

Do the wheels you had for the Z06 fit the C4? A set of CCWs like I've got would look pretty money on that thing. And they're really light. If you decide you want a set, PM me. I know a guy.

That would actually be pretty funny, seeing how his own car is a Mustang...

Let's see... the Doublecross has two cars on the same course, but starting and finishing at different points depending on which "lane" they're running. So if I see your taillights, then.... I've caught up with you? OK, I can accept that. :P
