Well about two weeks ago while on my way back to Greenville I was clocked at 14 over and got a ticket. Anyway I am hoping that someone would be able to recommend a good lawyer in Wake County. I got tons of those letters in the mail, but I want to make sure I get a good one. Thanks in advance for your help.

I got a 15-over in Sanford years back and (somehwat blindly) used one of the lawyers that mailed me. It worked out well. The total fee was about $10 more than what the fine itself was, but I got of with an improper equipment charge and no points and I did not have to show up in court. Since it's a money game, I'm sure you'll end up in the same boat as me regardless of who you choose.

Out of curiosity, were you using a radar detector? And how did they get you?

If your record was clean before the ticket, you might want to consider a prayer for judgement continued...you show up in court, ask the judge for it, they dismiss it as long as you remain clean for the next two years (not sure of the exact period). Its like a one shot "get out of jail free card". I'm not dispensing legal advice but I did it a couple of years ago. All I had to pay was court costs.

yeah mike i've got a v1. i got tagged on i40 just a few miles before my exit for 64. he was in the meadan and i'm prety sure he had just gotten there because the radar didnt pick anything up until i drove by, it whent crazy when he shot me. i think he was using k band but not 100% sure on that. i know for a fact it was not lazer thow.

i cant use a prayer for judgement. i had a ticket almost exactly a year ago. it was 15 over went to court myself and got it reduced to 9 over. this time i dont want to deal with it and cant afford the points so i plan on getting a lawyer.

Instant on = Bummer. Too bad you didn't get any warning hits from people ahead of you.

I've had some success with JUMPING on the brakes during an instant-on hit. Doesn't win any point with the cops, but, in the old days at least, it took the gun a moment to capture speed and braking during the hit would work. But I'm not sure how fast current radar guns get a lock these days.
