WTH?

This guy sounds like a genius (**hope it's not anyone here***).

Some of my favorite quotes:

"It means from a dead stop this car will easily do 100 mph before you get 100 yards down the road which I think translates to 0-100 in around 5 seconds."

"There might be more that could be done but I’ve checked and except for chroming everything it’s about maxed out for speed. I haven’t dynoed it but I’m guessing it’s around 290 to 320 hp at present."

Umm, yeah- right..........

This car has been for sale before. I emailed the guy last time to ask questions appearing as an interested buyer. He never responded.

I may have to try again.

The Greddy kit is not BAD but it's not that GOOD either.

IF you are serious, check the manifold for cracks.

Serious?

Watch out for low flying smartass comments- I think one almost hit you in the head back there..........

If you still need help- try this excerpt:

"0-100 in around 5 seconds"

uhh huh.

This car could actually have close to 200 whp if set up properly, though probably not with the 1.6. I can attest 200 whp makes for a pretty damn quick Miata, obviously not 0-100mph in 5 seconds quick, but quick.

I like the hardtop. I bet it adds like 10 horsepower too. 8)

I guess that is why I did not get the last few horsepower out of my turbo 510. I did not chrome everything.

If he is really running 11psi, it should be very close if not a touch over assuming it is well tuned. My old turbo 1.8L dyno'd in the mid-220's (whp) with about the same amount of torque at 11psi on a fairly conservative tune. And I doubt anybody would have called that car slow-- including Graham. :)

Turned up to the 17psi I had it tuned for and it approached 290whp which was, dare I say it, neck snapping. :D And assuming you didn't wheel hop and break an axle, it wouldn't come close to running 0-100 in 5 seconds.

With that said, I wouldn't touch the car in question with a 10-foot boost controller...

Jim

Yeah, I'll give you that- but 200hp =/ "290 to 320 hp"

Look, I'm not saying it's NOT a fast car- but crap like this just kills me.

Reminds me of the guys who break out the speed parts catalog and a calculator, adding up all the claimed HP gains for each mod, then boasting that they are making some ungodly amount of HP with mis-matched bolt on mods that are in reality likely working against each other.

And I'll second Mr. Feinberg's comment- I wouldn't touch it with HIS 10 foot boost controller. I'd be willing to bet this car is a major rigjob and pity the poor sucker who pays top dollar for it.

;)

EDIT:

just to show how completely out of touch this guy is, here are some numbers from the all-powerful interwebs:

0-100 mph Comparison Times
Ultima GTR 5.3 s
McLaren F1 LM 6.3 s
Ferrari Enzo 6.7 s
Porsche Carrera GT 7.4 s
Pagani Zonda 7.5 s
Porsche 911 Ruf R Turbo 8.5 s
Ferrari F40 7.8 s
Lamborghini Murcielago 9.0 s
Dodge Viper SRT-10 9.5 s
Aston Martin DB9 10.2 s
Honda NSX Type-R 11.4 s

I see that car about once a week. I pass by the house it is parked at and it always caught my attention due to the red wheels. Either way that ad is funny.

The car gets the 0 to 100 speed and acceleration by burning bull shit instead of gas. Did he say it was a green car also??

I've copied this ad word for word, just in case I ever sell my Miata. Such great marketing

No he wouldn't Jim. I remember that car from when I first joined the club. That car with your skills was impressive.

You can have TC/SC motors. Good luck with it. I'll stick with my NA V8s.

Graham
