Yep it is the long nosed swoopy thing that started by in the 20's, the Xk120 in the 50's, E Type in the 60's that grabs me with this. I do like the Z4 coupe, I think that was what the car was meant to look like, minus the goofy badge/side marker light and associated body work. Mr. Cline took care of that. I have always planned on a nice Bday present on my next milestone bday, thought it might me a M Coupe, Caymen, etc. but I don't know if I will be comfortable even with the used prices by then so this soltice intriuges me. I think I like it.

I am guessing that video is not one of the Will it Blend videos you watch with the kids.

Just checked, nope it isn't

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Here's my line of thinking on the looks of these cars in a little more detail.

First, I think the original Z3, particularly once they went to the wide rear end, is nearly the perfect looking roadster. I just love that car (and yes, I did own an M Roadster for a while). I thought the M Coupe (and later Z3 Coupe) was the first REAL "pregnant rollerskate." I know the CRX was where that term was likely invented to describe a car, but that coupe was terrible to me.

Then BMW did the ultimate and created the Z4. It's an abortion, IMHO. It's so far removed from anything desirable to me that I couldn't believe it. I hated BMW for what they did.

That said, I saw TC's car in person a couple weeks ago, and I have to say that his car did look pretty good. Maybe I've gotten over the shock of the change a little, plus what *he* did with his helps. And I'm a bit of a sucker for orange like that. Hmm. He goes through cars pretty quick, perhaps I should ask him if it's soon to be for sale. :)

I've never liked the look of the Solstice. I like the Sky from the front, and the back isn't bad except I feel like the tail lights are a little too euro or something. But that's a minor nit...if they had made a real GXP clone in the Sky I might have considered one. And yes, I am fairly anti-GM in general, I admit. *shrug*

I had a 97 Z3 with the 2.8 engine, that came with the really wide rearend. My wife was mad when I bought it but madder when I sold it. She still talks about getting an Mroadster of that era. I don't know why, I just wasn't crazy about that car, maybe because a can't number the morons that asked if I liked my Miata. Not that there is anything wrong with a Miata. Also the seat sliders would move with excelleration and hard corning and the warrenty guy said "yeah the previous owner said the same thing, that's just how they are." I was not the asshole then that I am today or it would have been fixed.

I probably should have labelled that as NSFW. I dunno, is having sex with a car considered pornographic?
