ok so here we go again. as THSCC.com was my first real introduction to internet forums, i apparently do not understand the rules of conversing with others on the internet.

maybe it is just a BMW thing, i don't know.

awhile back while in a heated discussion in these forums i learned a "new" to me internet expression / abbreviation. IBTL

so i get the opportunity to show off my new found education in internet jargon / lingo whatever one would call it, and i get Banned for two weeks.

the thread got locked anyway, and i was certainly not the first to jump in, but i might have been the only one to actually type (ibtl). what is up with that?

Since you're talking about a bimmer forum have you chaecked the size of the picture in your signature. On most single make forums the rule is the bigger the better. You get bonus points for animation and whatnot too. So, go back and make sure your avatar and signature are as big as possible. Also make sure there are plenty of roundels in the picture.

The tackyness of huge look at me "glamour shot" photos in the signature area is the #1 reason we don't allow that here.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

and I thank you for it. Single mark forums and douchebaggery go hand in hand.

Request for Steve to be banned for 2 weeks for posting that horrible phrase on this forum

There are BMW owners here too. That was quite insensitive.

thanks for the tip Mike. i am blocked out from changing anything in my signature or avatar whilst in time out.

the official reason for my banning was "useless postings, +1, ibtl etc."

apparently i am not of the caliber required to post in said bimmer forum.

well why would i want to belong to an organization that would have ME as a member? except present company of course. 8)

anybody know anything about Audis? P-cars maybe.

Steve,

You could try joining Corner-Carvers forums but make sure you read all the rules!!!! They jump all over new folks who don't follow the rules.

One of the biggest rules is to use the search function before posting a question. Try absolutely every possible search before posting a question. If you still need to post, DO NOT say you are a newbie, your post count will make that obvious. If there isn't a specific rule about how to post a question after failing to find anything via search, be matter of fact. "I searched" these words, etc. with no result. Can anyone either refer me to a post thread or, if not, provide input". There are some Bimmer experts on C-C.

Oh, and make sure there are no typos!!!!

Oh, and I strongly recommend that you stay out of the political discussions. Some of us don't fit the prevailing views of the guys who do post.

Dick

thanks Dick i may do that. don't get me wrong here i am sure i may have maybe sort of kinda brought some of this upon myself.

but when the kid posted the query "why not lower your car with sand bags" i found i could not control my urge to inform this poor lost soul to what extent he was actually a moron. that brought about my first 5 day suspension.

not sure how i earned the 10 day ban this afternoon, other than i am now on the Mod's list. apparently something i said last evening was enough to get me banned again.
