Ok, other than the fact that the video shows how it happens; to me this is one of those Captain Obvious "Falling down stairs increases risk of injury” studies.

This happens not just on roads, but I think in any lines when people are queued up and people are trying to maintain a set distance. Your at rest distance is much closer than your moving distance.
