Jackie and I were there. So sweet!

Let's go Duke!

Hey, one of the conditions of using our tickets was that Jackie was supposed to cheer for State! :x :)

Bah. It's a loss, and a game they could and should have won. Senior day, in front of the home crowd.

No chance...way too early. Don't foget how bad Krzyzewski sucked in his first three years or so. I think his third season at Duke was truly horrible...at least I can remember Duke bball being a joke back then (was in grad school at NCSU at the time).

Maybe everything does go full circle?

That would be the day:

Year 2025 Headline:

"NC State is the only undefeated team in the ACC thus far; While the Blue Devils and Tarheels struggle to stay over .500"
Hahahhahaa!

His biggest recruiting get so far has been Hickson, a head case that nobody else wanted (and we see why). They are WORSE this year, and you can't tell me Atsur should be worth more to your team than Hickson. Sure, losing Degand hurt, and that alone will buy him another year, but I predict Hickson goes to the NBA this year and the Pack sucks bad next year. People cry for his head, but he'll skate through simply because they'll say he lost Hickson "early" (hah, if he didn't know Hickson was a one and done before he ever recruited him, well, he deserves to be smacked) and he'll get another year. They'll still suck and he'll be gone after that year.

Recruiting signs are on the wall for this one. He just hasn't done much as far as landing players for next year or the year after. Roy Williams, OTOH, has TEN commitments for the next three years already lined up. Lowe's current crop are way down the totem pole...

I agree, Hickson was the worst thing that could have happened to the Pack this year.

Javier showed some of his potential against Duke. I think Degand will spend next season on the bench.

As a cubs fan, I can't help but draw some analogy to State basketball fans: that total and utter confidence that your team will find a way to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.

As far as firing Sid goes, definitely a bad idea, at least at this point. Give him some time to bring in his own players first (by that, I mean ALL his own players, its no surprise that his players aren't mixing with Herb's leftovers). You can't totally blame a coach (or give him too much credit) for winning or losing with the remaining players from a previous coach. Its the same reason you shouldn't give Roy too much credit for his NC in 2005 (Doherty's players).

And comparing Roy's class to Sid's is ridiculous. Sorry, but State will never get the recruits that Duke or UNC or another top flight program will. You need a coach who can win DESPITE not having big name recruits. Getting Hickson was a good get, but really, you need to focus more on recruiting players who have been missed, a la Al Skinner and Gary Williams.

I said it when it happened, you made a huge mistake in getting rid of Herb, he was about as good as they came at maximizing performance from minimum talent.
