What’s the latest info on speed issues on the internet?

I’m posting from home since we can’t even get on line at work these days. Danny, who has an apartment on site, says about the only time he gets decent speed on line these days w/ satellite, is after midnight.

I’ve had it. I’m looking into Verizon Broadband Access. They offer a USB modem that would work on a desktop. It has a built in antenna and a connection for an additional external antenna as Chuck and Donnie had mentioned. Verizon says I have 30 days to try it and decide. They guarantee coverage in my area. We’ll see. More to come.

Work-Satellite......

wait for it.......

515 down, 193 up!

But, there's more.
The problem has been solved, and I'm guessing that speeds will improve within 24 hours.

You guys posting 4000+ down numbers on cable -- are you testing from a wired or wireless connection in your house?

I was only seeing mid-3000's from a wireless laptop. Up speeds are about the same.

Wireless. You're testing from your cable box to their reference, not from your NIC.

Well actually your testing the entire chain (including whats between your NIC and your connection to your ISP), but the limiting factor "should" be your broadband connection.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
