Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced place that works on car stereos? My sisters car is having some issues. I'd like to avoid sending her to Best Buy etc. for obvious reasons.

Thanks!

Donnie, I looked this place up on Superpages. Is this the one that used to be called "Dashboard?" I know Dashboard's been around for a long long time.

Another shop that I think is reputable - at least they were years ago - is Audio Express, on Capital Blvd in Raleigh, real near the Beltline. Another independent shop that's been around for as long as I can remember. Very knowledgeable staff last I was in there - but that was literally years ago.

What sort of work are we talking about? For just simple component replacement, Crutchfield's "master sheet" instructions are very good. I used this approach to replace the head unit on a CRX I had a couple years ago, and it was completely easy, requiring simple hand tools and about an hour.

Dashboard and M.E. Audio are one in the same. The main two guys who have been doing all the work in there for the last few years bought it from Darrell, the guy who started it and owned it forever. AFAIK, Darrell is pretty much a crook, though, and while they intended on buying it they ended up having to just start fresh after Darrell decided to just not pay bills for the last few months he was in business in hopes of screwing the new "owners" with them. They caught on in time and were able to keep the phone number the the location, but had to change names since they didn't actually buy the original business and didn't even want a similar name for fear of getting wrongly sued by Darrell's creditors.

So, same great service, same location, same phone number, different name.

Audio Express in Durham has been around a while, but IMHO is not nearly as good as M.E. Audio (which is just up 15-501 about a mile). I have no experience with AE in Raleigh.

Thanks for the input!

Personally, I think its just a few loose wires on her in-dash unit, but I tried to fix it last time, which makes me responsible for it not working this round somehow (she's 21). Sooooo, I'm just sending her somewhere where she can have a "professional" look at it and charge her instead.
