Need a higher end One-for-all remote (I need to be able to send a hex code to my TV).

8000 series and up should do it, maybe 6000 series. I will need to reprogram the TV button for my TV (if you have custom codes, you might not want me erasing them).

Tried it last night. I think the IR sender might be busted.

It's also alot easier with the All-for-one remote - though if my Treo was sending IR, I could now control almost every TV on the planet. I would still need to program the custom code to get to my uber service menu.

Toshiba screwed up with my TV and didn't put the HPOS function on the regular service menu. I figure after 5 years, it's time to fix geometry (center it and tweak the overscan.

I don't even need the TV handy, just the All-for-one and my MX-500. It can learn the code (great memory, but it isn't very smart otherwise).

It's also time for a manual focus :( I have a lot less time for taking a TV apart now that Meghan is here :)

Anyone need a low-end All-for-one remote. It controls 4 devices. It seems to do it pretty well too (access to service menus, etc).

Doubt this will be helpful at all for you Scott... but I highly recommend this Logitech Harmony 880 Universal:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remot ... 2&cl=us,en

PC-based setup, intuitive (and relatively simple) button learning if needed

Bought one for my dad's birthday a few months ago, got it mostly set up from my home PC (armed with only his component model numbers). Tweaked it at his house (setting up the macros for what they did most) within about an hour. Best gift I ever gave them. It's tops on my X-mas list right now.

FWIW, he as a wide mix of new components (Plazma TV, Harmon-Kardon HDMI AV receiver) and old ones (Mitsu VCR, Phillips DVD-R, Panasonic LaserDisc, etc) and its been able to work them all.

Test by trying to find a new device with an older laptop that has an IR port.
