So the new era began today. The 3 will be returned to mostly stock starting tomorrow. Tonight at 5:00 I purchased a 1993 Miata. It is white with a black leather interior. The previous owner added a couple of nice things. It still has the factory hardtop. The soft top is original and no clouding on the plastic rear window. There is a window protector, ugraded wires, manual steering rack, Koni Yellows (!). He added clear lights on the front corners and "altezza" style lights on the back. Those will be getting put back to stock. The little 1.6 seems really strong. No smoke, etc. It is so hard to beleive that the car just turned 82k! Not a bad car for $4k. Here are some pics of it at dusk, sorry for the poor lighting....

4K?!? Nice find Jeb. I never seem to run into stuff like that. The hardtop, if it's a Mazda one, is probably worth a grand all by itself to some Spec Miata racer, should you so choose.

If you want to wake up that leather on the seats, give these folks a try: http://www.leatherique.com. The combination of "Rejuvanator Oil" and "Pristine Clean" really works nicely.

Thanks! I thought it was a good deal too even though the 12-pack wasn't included :boo:. This car is really in great shape. The seats are darn near perfect. The owner I bought it from only put about 30 k miles on it in the 8 years he owned it. I will probably hang on to the top for now, as one never knows where these projects will lead....

That may be the only non-broken Miata dipstick of that vintage in the world. The radiator hoses look new, have you looked at the heater hoses? Make sure that they don't feel tacky, or else you might have to look into replacing the cam angle sensor o-ring soon. I'd also doublecheck the radiator for scaling -- that's not a lot of miles on that old of a car. The coolant probably needs flushing in a bad way.

Congrats, it looks pretty clean! See you in Sanford :?:

I won't be able to make Sanford. I will be in Vegas at SEMA the week before and then we have our company year end (holiday) party in Charlotte, the weekend of the Sanford event. I wouldn't mind a set of experienced eyes on the car at some point, if you are willing.

I'll PM you, sounds like you need to have the car at the store on Friday right after lunch.

The car looks good Jeb. Welcome to STS2!!!! Since the Monroes ran away screaming from the class for next year, we needed someone else to play with.

Looks very clean and a good price. It always amazes me how Miatas hold their value.

That was the first thing I thought too!!! Be careful with the dipstick, the little eye likes to break off. VERY common Miata problem.

1.6's have the Cam Angle sensor on the intake cam (ie the other side), so it does not drip onto the hoses like yours did. :)

Nice lookin' car. I'd say you got you moneys worth for sure.

That's the cleanest engine bay of a street car of that vintage I've ever seen that wasn't some sort of restoration or something. The interior looks typical of a well kept car of that vintage, and it sounds like the soft top is in great shape as well. I'd say that's a pretty dang good find, really.
