When I checked out the GT-R that Car and Driver had at VIR, I did not think it was that big. Especially for the curb weight. I would guess it was the size of the Sti and Evolution MR that were there. If my senses were right, the Challenger was quite a bit larger than the GT-R

I don't know about the Challenger, but your senses are sorta off on the GT-R vs STi. The GT-R is 15.27' long, 6.21' wide, and has a wheelbase of 9.12'. The 2007 STi is 14.65' long, 5.7' wide, and has a wheelbase of 8.28'. And yet it still has four doors to the GT-R's two.

The GT-R looks big to me, too.

Yeah, it is not the best looking car in the world. It look too mechanical and not organic to me, no flowing lines, it looks like they took the 350Z and pasted a aftermarket widebody kit on it. It is one thing to have the ricers put shit like that on a car, I would have hoped the manufacturer would have integrated it better. JMO

I like that alot more than the silver.

Kinda like how I feel about the BMW 135 - in certain colors it looks much better than others.

Had a discussion on Sat about whether this means it is overall a bad design - I think it depends if the color hides body lines/features vs. highlights them.

ricer junk IMO. i am suprised it doesn't drive itself. 8)

i still doubt any of us will see one of them at a HPDE any time soon. and as for actual race prep, well SEMA seems more the path these things will take. let the Drifters have it yohe!

Actually Steve one is going to be at VIR Sept. 11th at the Wilderness Trail PCA event.

Maybe it looks better in person. The silver one in Car and Driver that ran in the One Lap of American looks good though.

I saw the one at VIR during the one-lap. It's as ugly in person as it is in the pictures.

Yeah, I got to see that One Lap car up close and personal a bunch of times, including when it was all clean and pretty and just don't care for the thing. It's just not a good looking car. But something about Nissan's styling doesn't do much for me...this is actually one of *their* better cars. Which to me isn't saying much. I'm talking about current stuff...there are certainly past Nissans that I do like.

I was much more interested in watching the Tire Rack guy use their 3D digitizing arm do the take-offs on the GT-R for wheel and tire fitment. That was cool.

Carefull there....

We may have one at CMP in October. Matt from Charolette is contemplating on bring his out. Depends on where he is in the break in period.

It's amazing how much distain an inanimate object car bring. Is it because it threatens the Vette egos here?

:P

Nope, it doesn't threaten the ego of this wannabe Vette owner. I just think the car is ugly.

But then Nissan hired the worst car designers in the world and they haven't been able to produce a good looking car since the 300ZX's demise.

We're all entitled to our opinions...

I disagree completely... 350Z, Murano, G35 (coupe and sedan), FX35/45, Titan, Frontier, Maxima, and in my opinion... the GT-R (especially that flat black!)

Sure, there are duds in the bunch, as there are with ANY manufacturer... 612 Scaglietti anyone?

No threat at all Marty. the ZR1 already laid down a 7:26 with a GM engineer driving it bone stock with pump gas. I'd settle for slower than drive something thats just Butt Fugly.
