That episode is good and she is an excellent driver.
My best time last year with the A3 TurboDiesel for the same Bridge to Gantry within tourist traffic, was 9:37.

Video from Nissan of a 7:38 run...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGe_fyhQazg

Based upon tire noise, I am guessing these are not racing slicks. Looks to be a well driven lap with zero traffic and good conditions. It will be interesting to see what times independent testers will generate.

+ 5 sec. If you look carefully the start point is not the same than the finish point. They used the Normal start point for the lap but stop the timer just after the last corner. So for a complete lap you need to add about 5 sec. If you look back at the beginning of the video you will see it. So it's more like 7:43...

This has been argued on several boards and forums, the the starting and stopping points are the standard ones for those going for official times. I don't know why there isn't a single start/finish, but the points used are the same ones that most testers and manufacturers use. It's an official time.

I can't believe it! That is such a momumental screw up! It is a good 3-5 seconds short of where they started the lap.

In GT4 I got the concept version of this car. So I give it a try on the Ring last night. The only think I change on the car was the tire.
I put the S3 tire ( best sport tire) and an oil change that bring the HP to 477. My best time was 7:15 but in the game the lap time is counted at the
same start/finish point. So with the finish point they used that will be around 7:10 / 7:11. In the game the car handle pretty good and it's strange/fun to have a 7 speed gearbox. Will have to get a Z06 to compare. I try the Pagani Zonda Race car after the Nissan did a 6:20 that was fun.

I think this just brings up the point of how pointless (no pun intended) direct comparison of Nurburgring times are. Because how they are measured (such as this video) and the conditions (traffic, no traffic). There is some value, but if you can easily say any time is +/- X amount of time and the value of "X" is pretty variable, then its hard to say a 7:38 is really faster than a 7:39 for example.

again, the starting and stopping points used are the official 20.6 track times. They are the same used by VAG, GM, Sport Auto, and many more. I am not sure why they use the 20.6 vs the full track, but it is the standard.

I knew there had to be a reason. It was just too obvious of a thing to do if you were trying to cheat on the time.

Here is another link for the 20.6 test length...

Not sure if this is a repost or not, but it's dated this past Tuesday.

This looks like it is going to be an awesome car.

When I checked out the GT-R that Car and Driver had at VIR, I did not think it was that big. Especially for the curb weight. I would guess it was the size of the Sti and Evolution MR that were there. If my senses were right, the Challenger was quite a bit larger than the GT-R
