Wings, Def: A required food to feel good, consumed with beer and eaten in front of a foot ball game or any event that has cars racing in some format.

So my questions are....

1) What do you consider the best place to buy wings and what flavor. I've been going to Zaxbys, but not really into the sticky sauce. I think my preference is leaning towards "neckid" wings, but any good wing is worth listing here. I had some wings at the Cleveland Draft house that hit the spot. Need to go back and verify by consuming a few more dozen…

2) Do you have a home made version... from the grill, from the George Foreman deep fryer and so on. What's you're secret sauce and ingredients you use?

With the fall season hopefully coming this year, it's time to start stocking up on locations and recipes to make some tasty wings...

munch on....

Hands down, Lynnwood Grill. Garlic, Cajun, Hot, or Extra Hot. Had 'em last night, in fact. Wash 'em down with $1.50 PBR's. Good stuff right there. :D

BW-3's (Is there one in Raleigh?)

I actually like Hooter's (wings too!)

+1 on BW-3's, although beer is more expensive than it should be there

East Coast Wings is also pretty good, not as much variety, but more reasonably priced beer.

I don't think VK likes wings and you and Ryan would get pretty bored arguing about generators and awnings all alone.

Rodney, the best place I found in Raleigh for wings is Playmakers across the street from Meredith College on Hillsborough Street. IIRC, Thursday night was $.35 wing night. Good sauce and was Atkins friendly ;) - AB

I've had decent wings from The Carolina Ale House in Raleigh, the wings are HUGE and I like the battered style but their nekkid wings are pretty good too.

I have recently started getting wings just down the road from the Carolina Ale House at the new Falls Tap Room (since I work right next door) and they are pretty good too. I found the best way to get their wings is to just order plain breaded wings and get the hot sauce on the side. For some reason the flavor is more intense that way.

I don't care for Hooter's wings anymore, they are just too greasy.

Now, the best wings in the state come right off the grill at my house. Chuck makes some damn fine wings. He makes 'em nekkid-style with a spice rub, BBQ, Teriaki, Hot and Nucular flavors, and I like 'em all. Now, don't go on about him makin' 'em nekkid, that's how you're supposed to do it. :D

Actually not, but they have wings and beer and it's in Greenville so what do you think the waitresses look like?

Hooters has wings?!?!??!?!! I thought all they had were breasts!!!!!!!!  :D

Really though, Buffalo Wild Wings in White Oak shopping center has excellent wings. I'll agree with Carolina Ale House makes a good wing also. Playmakers and East Coast are high on the list. But for me the best place in Raleigh to get wings closed a few years ago. It was Wings-To-Go down by State. They made EXCELLENT wings.

As for making my own, I use Franks Red Hot for the sauce. I grill them up and slap the sauce on them right before taking the wings off the grill. Wings and a six pack of COLD beer and you just found my perfect weekend!!

We buy Tyson Tequila Lime Flavored Wings from Sam's club. I think I'll go microwave some now.

Heat peanut oil to 350 degrees. Drop wings in. Soon after they float they are done. Keep in till desired color. Shake off excess oil and mix immediately with Franks Hot sauce. (Add hot butter, 25% to 50% of the amount of Franks, for mild to medium wings. )

Today on Channel 11 Mr. Food did wings. He baked them rather than deep fried them. Just a thought.
