Thanks for the continued advice everyone.

What's the deal with NCSU? Do I just call the vet department? I wasn't aware they even dealt with the general public. It's a haul but if somebody local can't make Ceaser better, it might be worth a shot.

Jim

NCSU used to be just for emergencies, but they have I think started taking normal cases too. We have been there so many times with animals that for awhile they knew us by name

We use Crossroads in Cary and love them, but that is a bit far from Durham for cats who hate to drive. There is nothing worse than hearing a cat meow in the car for an hour......

I just called my Vet, who’s actually a large animal guy, but has done my small animal stuff for nearly 30  years, since we’ve been friends for that long. I knew he’d give you a referral if one was needed. He said to just call the Companion Animal Division of the vet school and you should be able to get right in. He also suggested the Veterinary Specialty Hospital (that I mentioned earlier) in Cary. Again, a good drive, but he says they have specialist is every area of Vet medicine.

By the way, how's Ceaser doing now? Is he becoming more and more lame, or staying about the same?

Again, good luck, and keep us in the loop.

Gwennie

Thanks Gwen.

Ceaser is doing about the same at the moment. The mornings seem to be a little rough on him but once he gets moving around, he seems to limber up a touch. The weird thing is that he seemed to come up lame all off a sudden.

He was seemingly fine until I got back from the NCAC Sunday night at which time he had developed a severe limp. I'm still thinking he must have missed a jump or something but he really hasn't gotten any better since then. I'm going to give him until next week to see if the current medication has any effect and then I'm going to take him in to see somebody else.

You guys have given me so many great options that now I'm having a tough time selecting where I want to take him. :) Not a bad problem to have...

Jim

Dang cats! :D

Ceaser aka "The Sneeze" is doing 98% better. He is almost back to his old self and the only time you can tell he had a problem with his leg is when he goes up the stairs or sits down. His left leg sticks out at ~5 degree angle when he sits but that is much improved from the ~45 degrees it was sticking out. You have to look at him very closely when he walks to even see that it is still bothering him. If you didn't know him, I'm guessing you couldn't even tell.

Considering I'm leaving for the great mecca of Topeka tomorrow for over a week, I'm fairly relieved that I don't have to worry about him while his is being watched by my brother. Everybody I talked to said it would take a couple of weeks for the medicine to kick in but I really don't know if that did the trick or he sprained it and it is finally healing. I'm going to take him into a new vet as soon as I get back for a full checkup and I'm hoping it was just a temporary injury.

Thanks again for the advice and suggestions everyone!

Jim
