Anyone have a V1, BEL, or Escort I could borrow for a day this weekend? I'd like to try one out before I plunk down the $400.

Thanks.

Just as long as you agree to pay the ticket I get by not having it. j/k

Buying a V1 is the single best investment an auto enthusiast could spend money on.

One vote for Valentine One.

If I was nearby, you could borrow my V1. I've had it for a little over a year and it was worth every penny. Don't buy a used one, get a new one and buy it directly from their site. It's no cheaper anywhere else. - AB

Don't bother. Just plunk. It's worth it. A weekend isn't going to tell you much since it's that once-a-month "My V1 just saved my ass" experience that makes it worth the money.

Mike <-- no tickets since I bought my V1 in 1998. Two in the 6 months prior. Still going strong and not in need of an upgrade (in NC).

When and where (i.e. traffic conditions, time of day, and types of roads) do the NC police tend to use radar, etc.? Or, conversely, when and where is it NOT used.

I found a perfect condition used Escort on frrax.com (f=Camaro/Firebird) for $200.00 a year ago.
I've followed guys with the V1 and my dector went off at the same time as their's did. The V1 is probably better, but I'm very happy with the Escort.
I use mine on the highway, but not around town. But remember, around town in Greenville doesn't mean much! It takes me 7 or 8 minutes to get to work and we don't have an interstate system. If I lived in the Raleigh area, I'd probably use it all the time.

Does anyone have any experience with the Lidatek laser jammering systems? I've never seen a laser trap in NC with my V1 and hope to keep it that way.

I call shenanigans. When you see a laser hit, it's because you're in the sights. I can't see one defeating the h-nu.

Everyone is different, as far as where they run radar, each cop has their own "favorite lil spot"....as far as the radar goes, yea, it helps keep u aware, but the new LIDAR technology is something ur not gonna be able to fight in court. I can pace using mathmatical equations(Time/Distance, etc), and ur radar aint gonna do squat, but 95% of the time it will help:) So if ur gonna get one , get one of the best:) Just my .02 :D

LIDAR technology (in general) is far from new. We use it at work for surveying land contours.

Another vote from me on the V1. It's the best and everyone knows it, including the folks that make the Escort.
