Ok, what are some of your favorites. We can through out the Dragon. I'm talking about roads you can take day to day around Eastern NC.

I went on one of my favorites yesterday. Hwy 42 West from Fuquay to Sanford. Rolling hills, lots of curves, and more down home scenerey than a John Mellencamp song. There are just two communities, Duncan and Corinth (got to slow down there, two books in the Bible about that place, if you speed God might smite you) Very little traffic, I passed one truck along the way. I goes through three counties Harnett, Chatham, and Lee so I think that has something to do with not seeing very many county employees if you know what I mean. If course I never knowingly went over the speed limit (easy to do in a Mini, keep your eyes straight ahead, only watching the tach, Hmm I am at 6000 rpm I wonder if I am in 2nd or 4th/)

Any way that's my first nomination. What say the rest of you.

Around here, there are some nice ones near Jordan lake. I am not sure of the names, but heading towards Pittsboro on 64, then taking the road towards Farrington use to be a really nice. I use to ride that on the Motorbike.

Aounr greenville, I seem to remember 222 (pineville?) being nice, as long as you didn't get behind a tractor or something

I think Smithfield Road in East Raleigh/Clayton is interesting. Just a few rolling hills with an abundance of turns and hardly any side roads.

Also, highway 210 on the way to Hampstead off highway 40 (exit 408 I think) is very, very curvy and has many places to pass. Folks use this road to travel to Topsail beach.

Then there is always the northern Wake heat cycling facility for those that need to scrub in race tires :) :

The best road I've been on between Raleigh and Asheboro is Old Liberty Road. Lots of curves and elevation changes, one lane bridges to add some excitement.

Enjoy, but watch for the cop that live a mile or two in from the east.

My friend from Quebec was here last weekend. Before coming home they went to the Outer Banks.
He took road 264 from there, he said that's a road to test a car top speed. Nobody on that road.
He said to make sure you have enough gas because there is nothing on that road.
He said to watch for low flying plane there is a bombing range along that route.

I stumbled across HWY42 out on a drive one day, very fun road with some gentle curves and rolling hills.

Its a really short stretch but Holly Springs road from the Cary PKY to Penny is pretty good.

My favorite day to day is Smithfield/Pritchett Road between Clayton and 64. Whole bunch of curves, a handful of elevation changes, and the drop off on the sides of the roads are mostly smooth for that "rallycross" feel. :D

Oh, and Grasshopper Lane between Smithfield Road and Poole Road has a few rolling hills on one end and a few fun twisties at the other. Makes the drive to work worth it and relaxing after that hard day of staring at a computer.

Wow, I'd get a lot more track time if it took me 8 minutes :) Hahaha.
