Not with me in that car! :P

I've been watching VIR-N onboards - looks like I'll need to treat those turns with serious respect. I get what you meant about a single session being way too short to learn much.

Yep. Does the instructor normally drive the car for a session, or is VK pulling strings so he can throw around my SVT  ?

Oh yes, I think the instructors have pretty much free reign  Let us know what you thought of the hyper drive. It sounds like a lot of fun for $50. Plus you get to see everything else that is going on.

I ridden in enough beginner groups to disagree. IMO, it will most likely be like being charged $50 for parade laps. I doubt there will be any speed to speak of (due to traffic) except on the straights, and what fun is that on a road course?

I think one would be better off getting a ride with an instructor and sitting in on a few classroom sessions (all for free) if you want to see what an HPDE event is all about. Sure it's different when you're actually behind the wheel, but you won't get much out of a 20 minute session in bumper to bumper traffic. This is assuming that the Hyperdrive session will be well attended. If not, and you get some clean track, it just may be worth your $50.

Of course like Jim said there is lots going on so you won't be bored either way. You may even get to see Jim hear the "chrome horn" in his first CMC race.

Well, that would be a drag :( - I thought the HPDE was full last time I checked, and I was worried about not having extra brake pads. I'll have to check the website and see if it gives a hyperdrive entry list.

Are no-shows likely? I'd bump up to the full HPDE if I could.

If that is your concern about HPDE...

Just put a fresh set of pads on and you are plenty good for the weekend. Hell, even if you have 1/2 of the pad, you will be good to go. If you want insurance, pick up a set of high performance street pads at Advance Auto for a back up. Problem solved :-)

If HPDE is full, come play at CMP. CMP is a lot of fun and will be a lot less hectic.

True. As a noob you won't be pushing the limit nearly as much and a good sets of pads should definitely last thru the weekened. As a good back-up, PFCM street pads do very well for their cost which is about $50.

Thanks mods for splitting off my OT digression

I've emailed Laura - thanks Ryan.

Vincent - I assume you mean Performance Friction carbon metallic pads? Do you have a good source? I may just get another set of Hawks shipped to me.

Yes, and normally you can get them from AutoZone. I just checked their website and they don't have an application for the SVT though. :(
